In times of power shortages, FReepers, can you post shortwave radio sites or links here?

We have no idea what kind of disruption might be headed our way.

Is it possible to share shortwave websites here or would that just point disrupters to locations to "take down."

A FReeper recently posted wishing to line up short-wave radio resources ahead of time.

FReepers/radioheads - can you offer advice, links? :)

We old Ham ops are everywhere. Short wave will not patch the web. But there are digital come. IVe done most of them and have the equipment. Hold Amateur extra and GROL Commercial license Ran Navy/Marine MARS station out of my home for 19:years. That service is long gone. Also many of the operators are gone.

No. Hams have short wave frequencies too.

Or, if any kind of "mainstream media" garbage somehow manages to seep into the broadcast, "Same Old 'Stuff'".

My First Class Radio Telephone w/Ship’s RADAR endorsement (1977) was converted to GROL by the FCC. Amateur Extra, but kept my callsign from 1976 as it has a long history.

I had the radio telephone first class in 1973. Then one year the renewal app got lost in Boston cause the FCC had moved out of Custom House somewhere else. Never got it back.

That’s funny, I am in the middle of studying for the Technician test. Hope to have my licence on a few weeks.

Yes, understand long history. I changed my amateur call when I got my Extra in 1985. Shorter call. Good one.

Have not been very active but still know how to do what can be done with narrow bandwidth. I still missing my tech friends from my years in NM. Great bunch.

Forgive me, I’m just an old fart ....
When the power goes out, ‘someone’ was asking for “shortwave radio ‘site’”?

A ‘site’ has become the accepted term for ‘website’, yes? ‘Website’ means a power-on connection, which would not work when there is no power, yes?

Shortwave. RADIO does not use ‘websites’, they transmit electromagnetic signals through clear air, not cable which carries ‘site’ actions.

I think the originator meant ‘stations’, which broadcast on ‘frequencies’, which do not use computerglichiphonagraphy!

...major disruption to the internet and phone systems.

They wouldn’t dare. How to keep the drones inculcated with fear or how to transmit marching orders and the meme of the day? No social media would disrupt the programming. They’d lose tracking ability

The economic losses to the oligarchs would be enormous.

OTOH: maybe the patriots would perpetrate this.

Ground-based localized EMPs: maybe.

I asked a local electrician for his opinion and he mentioned aholes driving around and shooting out transformers. Said it would take 2-3 weeks to replace the smaller ones.

We were talking about general information and not ARES or RACES level disaster recovery and coordination. We are talking about the sharing of information similar to what is already found on FR.

Figure out some way to contact by old fashioned mail. Person to one person and chain to a different known freeper, etc.

You didn’t understand the OP. OP wants websites with shortwave information he can refer to now so as to be prepared for outages.
