Why Are Links Not Working?

I have been posting articles on FR off and on for 22 years, and in that time I have become very good at using HTML to create the type of posts I like. Yet ever since FR changed the carrier of the site, none of my links work on articles I post. I have not changed what I use as HTML code, it's just that what I use does not work on FR any more. And not only links, but much of the HTML on my profile page is all screwed up as well.
Is there a logical reason for this?

I got a message from John, and he explained the problem. And yes it has to do with the quotes.
Here is the gist of it that he told me.
(Long story short, we went from using Latin1 to UTF-8 character sets, and both Latin1 and UTF-8 have their own idea of what constitutes a curly quote, and they are different!)
So I need to stop using Open Office and use note pad as many have suggested.
I did ask is there is another word program I could use that will suffice, and I am awaiting the reply.
daniel1212 offered this advice to me.
What I do is to save the document (wrote in Apache or Libre Office) as a web page (html) and then load it in a separate Firefox-type browser, and then select the section I want to copy, then right click in it and choose "View selection source" and copy and paste that. For instance, that is just what i did for the below
So maybe I just need to give up on Open Office, this is sad since it's a free open source program I really like.

Thanks for the heads up in your comment to dayglored.
I did turn off smart quotes, and am currently working on another commentary. I will let you know if the problem still exists

One more thing. I never copy links from other sites. I always create my own HTML link, because many years ago I came into problems copying code from other sites. Things never worked out as well, plus it forced me to actually learn HTML so I could actually create things I like in my own way instead of borrowing code from other sites.

Hera is what you shared and I am posting in comment to see if it works. It failed to work in comment preview, so let me see what happens when I actually post it.
Philippians 4:6 and paste it as written, and then preview it, it does not work. However, if I change the “ surrounding the URL to ‘ it works just fine. Thus either
Philippians 4:6 or
Philippians 4:6

None of your link worked, they do the same thing. The same message I get on mine comes up for each one. The message below is what I get.

If you disable quote replacement (an option named “smart quotes” or “curly quotes” or “typographical quotes”) then your Word program should be okay.
As for our side, there is a feature in the works that you should find useful. More details later.
To: John Robinson
I did disable it and the problem persisted. Read my comment to you on the new Post I just put up.

So did I, since me, being a Christian, and a conservative in politics, I have had more attacks and seen posts deleted from fb and suspended for both my political believe and my Christian belief,
Last week, FB put a disclaimer on my commentary of Hebrews due to its sensitive nature, ad of the 1200 friends I think maybe 6 people even saw it because they now shadow block me so friends never see what I post.
