Anna Hagele typically shops for groceries for her and her four children at the Walmart Supercenter on Herrera Drive in Santa Fe because she likes the prices.
However, on Friday, Hagele found herself waiting in a line of 40 people outside a local Albertsons, after the state announced Wednesday the Herrera Drive Walmart would be closed for the next two weeks – one of a dozen grocery stores in New Mexico closed in recent weeks due to multiple cases of COVID-19 among workers.
The Herrera Drive Walmart is one of three grocery stores currently closed in Santa Fe under an edict that allows the New Mexico Department of Health to close workplaces down for two weeks if they have four or more COVID-19 rapid responses in a 14-day period.
Each of the three groceries closed in Santa Fe serves residents on the city’s Southside, leaving fewer choices for food in an area already starving for options.

Son drove by Walmart on Eubank yesterday and had video of at least 70 people in line waiting to get in on the South grocery entry. Said there were another 70 or so on the garden entrance area.
Just kept driving.
whoops, server fart
Sooooo glad I live in South Carolina where we don’t have all this Marxist BS.
Where is here?
everyone tolerates it, therefore they deserve it. I don’t want to hear another damn word from internet complainers, do something or STFU.
Sixty years ago New Mexico was a great place to live with great schools and great jobs. Now they are at the bottom of the list for both, beating out Mississippi and Arkansas.
What has happened to the State!
The unofficial state motto for Arkansas used to be..”THANK HEAVENS FOR MISSISSIPPI!” as Mississippi was always the poorest state with Arkansas next.
Now the unofficial motto for both states is...THANK HEAVENS FOR NEW MEXICO!
It’s what they get for electing a demoncrap governor. Enjoy your starvation!
Amen, I do not comply with any nonsense and yet so many people even with masks say it’s just a mask and they don’t want to cause a scene. I do. I cause big scenes becuase I won’t be a sheep. Today it’s masks, tomorrow it’s a needle, then we know what’s after. We either stand up now or not at all.
I remember the warnings of sixty years ago about subliminal messages in advertisements and TV shows.
An interesting book from that time was THE HIDDEN PERSUADERS by Vance Packard
When in the military we were given training on how to spot propaganda in daily life. I’ve seen and heard lots of in the last fifty five years.
Yeah I was just making an example for my company
G-d bless you. Hold the line.
We don’t wear masks at the store, either...we get the dirty looks; we watch them complaining about us at the customer service counter. I’d like to see a bounty on Karens...whine, whine, whine.
dark times ahead.....stock up IF you can even if its non perishables like “tin” foil or wax paper or cleaning products, or socks and underwear...
Blue state governors attempting to create massive chaos.
We need to quit obeying these CHAOS MONGERS.
Cutting off food supplies is AGAINST THE LAW.
A very good reason to have enough non-perishable food on hand to last 6 weeks or more .... then you do not HAVE to go to the grocery store. Same with other items you consider “essential” (which varies per person/household). GOT to have milk? Buy dry or carton milk. GOT to have juice? Buy canned.
Last spring, about a week and a half before all heck broke lose around here with COVID shutdowns, stay-at-home orders, I got that “spidey sense” feeling that we needed to do some preparation - told my mom that if she needed anything, especially if ‘made in China’ (ugh) to get it NOW. She did ... I already had stuff for myself. We had no need to go to the grocery for a couple of weeks. By the time we ‘wanted’ to go for certain items (that we didn’t necessarily ‘need’, but wanted), the majority of the hoopla was over, the lines were gone, etc. The empty shelves were not a bother because we were in good shape on items where there were empty shelves.
My folks grew up on farms, dad during the Depression. I’m old enough to have some idea of how to “survive” if ‘normal’ life as we know it now goes off the tracks. Most people have no idea what to do if the grocery store is closed, if the power goes out, etc. If we do turn into ‘Venezuela’ & I think we will if Biden (the Trojan Horse for his fellow corruptocrat criminals) is inaugurated in January, all heck is eventually going to break loose. The DemonRats have no intention of going back to the ‘old’ normal, even if there is a ‘successful’ vaccine for COVID. When the ‘Rats swarm out of the cities/apartments, etc. where life without power, grocery stores, etc. is not sustainable & try to take YOUR stuff, dystopian fiction will become reality.
I’m not allowed in Costco anymore though heh.
