As a retired person with a paid-off home mortgage, the Green New Deal presents a serious threat to the inheritance I want to leave my children. It is quite possible that the GND would force me to re-tool my home with all sorts of “green” modifications (solar panels, no gas furnace, new roof, extra insulation, and so on) that I would have to take on $100,000 or more in new debt.

I'm not so sure of that. As long as the royals don't step out of line, the globalists might want to keep the Royal Family around to fool people into thinking that they still live in Merry Olde England, and to be part of the celebrity class that keeps the masses distracted.
