N.M. tightens public health restrictions amid ‘reset’ (New 11/18 p.m., [more lockdown beatings will continue until no more businesses operate])

New Mexicans instructed to shelter in place through Nov. 30

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and state health officials on Wednesday announced several tightenings intended to clarify the intent of the emergency public health order effective through Monday, Nov. 30, and to further underscore the imperative that New Mexicans must absolutely remain at home except for only those trips that are most essential for health, safety and welfare.

The changes restrict “big box” stores and other large retailers from operating in-person services. Complete definitions are outlined below.

The changes are effective beginning Thursday, Nov. 19, through Nov. 30.

The amendments as outlined in the public health order itself include:

The state also issued the following guidance related to frequently asked questions about the public health order:

For frequently asked questions and an explainer of essential businesses, and to read the emergency public health order, please visit the cv.nmhealth.org website.

The state of New Mexico on Tuesday, Nov. 17, set records for daily new cases, COVID-19 hospitalizations and COVID-19 deaths. The state also recorded its first pediatric COVID-19 fatality – a pre-teen boy in Bernalillo County.

The risk of transmission has never been higher than right now. And the risk of serious illness – and death – is exacerbated by the unsustainable strain on the state’s hospital system and health care providers.

“New Mexicans must stay at home to stop the spread and prevent needless mass casualties all throughout our state,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. “This is real. This is not up for debate. We cannot stop the infections that have already happened and are still circulating throughout our state. We cannot reverse the thousands of significant illnesses and hundreds of deaths that have occurred. But we can still prevent worse. And we must. What we do now will determine who lives and dies this winter. Act right. And take COVID-19 seriously.”

REMINDERS:

Essential businesses are any business or non-profit falling within one or more of the following categories. These businesses may operate but must reduce in-person workforce and operations to the greatest extent possible for the duration of the current public health order, through Nov. 30.

The businesses falling into one or more of the bolded categories are identified as essential retail spaces.

Those entities may operate in-person services in a more limited fashion: They may not exceed either 25 percent of its maximum occupancy, as determined by the relevant fire marshal or fire department, or 75 customers in the business space at any given time, whichever is smaller. They must close at 10 p.m.

I was going to pick up something from Walmart and the line was HUGE at both doors, I decided I didn’t need anything that bad.

At least in NM currently, the weather is very mild and standing outside may actually be pleasant. But when it turns cold, windy and with fog or drizzle, it’s going to be a different story.

My friends tell me that the NM State Patrol has been limiting entry at the Colorado border, requiring visitors to stay at Colorado motels overnight once the entry quota has been reached.

They just made the trip. In theory they are supposed to self-quarantine in NM for 14 days. There apparently is no follow-up enforcement of that part of the order - yet.

But everything to see or do has been closed.

Gosh, much empathy for the New Mexico residents. This is just awful.

The Walmart closest to me was pretty busy on Friday, checkout lines as long as they were during the peak of the last covidiocy buying panic, but no lines to get in. Toilet paper, eggs and cottage cheese were the only things I saw were sold outall sold out, but no limits.... yet. Probably are now.

Today at the little town grocery store I went to (as well as the Dollar Store and the gas station / convenience store); Limits of 1 per customer of TP, kleenex, paper towels and napkins, but no other limits, and plenty of stock. of everything... except sliced pepperoni (Which was the main thing on my list. (go figure))... But no lines or panic anywhere.

The governor intends the lockdown to crush the spirit of a formerly free people, to institute a culture of abject obedience to arbitrary decrees, to eliminate the concept of constitutional rights, to cease the worship of God, to crush impolitic sectors of the economy, to increase widespread destitution, to deprive the poor of their faith and of their social support networks, to increase the incidence of suicide and drug abuse, to experiment with a prototype of government under global-warming regulation, and to facilitate a Communist takeover.

If you live in New Mexico, flee. Liberal Democrats should go to Colorado, and conservative Republicans are needed in Arizona. Texas, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, and some other states are open to receiving New Mexico refugees. Please obtain an exit visa from the governor, transit permission from every county, municipality, and reservation through which you will travel, and entry visas for any states from their respective travel offices. States may close at any time.

Is anyone else getting Gov L-G’s stupid text alerts on their phone? “Shelter in place except for emergency needs. EXTREME virus risk.” And I’m getting them literally every 5mins of the day! Once is enough, thanks. We’re leaving our East Mountains abode this weekend & heading about 1300 miles east until the lockdown is over. And I’ll be sure to keep my phone off so L-G can’t track me...

I turned off all those stupid nag alerts. Guv. Grisham is treating this as if it were some kind of toxic gas leak.

Except for big nation wide chains stores like Big 5 sporting goods, they sell animal feed and guns so they can still sell firearms.

Just the small Mom and Pop locally owned gunsmiths and shooting sports retailers being hit hard again while some animals are more equal than others don’t ya’ know?

I was able to make an appointment today to retrieve a firearm I ordered and that was in transit to my local FFL when this latest shut down was suddenly called. The owners are PO’d at the blatant discrimination. Me too!

So when is the march on Santa Fe?
