“I don’t even have skype installed (and haven’t used it in years..)”

Not that I don’t trust Big Brother OR Big Sister...
When I had my beloved husband’s latest laptop created I told them that they needed to pull every thing connected to anything that could be remotely activated concerning a camera.
The camera came with the laptop, they told me...I advised them that no camera or no sale.... So the guy disconnected everything and there’s no camera on his laptop.
I still cannot get the man to use it.... it’s on my pc, all the time. LOL
No skype/zoom on this one, either. Could have had it installed and told them there was no way I wanted a camera, for any reason on my pc.
If I want to see someone THAT bad, I told them, I’d pay for the person to either fly to me or drive to me, including putting them up, safely as they came across the country. And NO WAY would I be traveling via the airlines. Nope. Nada. Nyet.
Well I can’t help. Been running Ubuntu for 10+ years. No bloat, nothing forced, rarely a restart after an update and even then the restart is 30 seconds or so. None of this 5-60 minutes crap.
Hmm...I have Win 10 Home and am up to date but it’s not on my computer. Are you perhaps running a Win 10 Pro version?
Also in Microsoft Support it seems to be associated with Office. I don’t have Office installed either.
Don’t let your meet loaf........................
Yet here you are. Another Linux missionary hoping for a convert.
It’s something about being a “fast service” for skype (which I do’t use).
(I dual boot; Linux/Winblows, thankfully I don’t have to worry about this cr@p on Linux))
Switching to Linux will get rid of it completely.
Yeah, that’s the easy part (did it as soon as I saw the icon)...
I want to nuke it :/
(I suppose I could change the permissions so that the system can’t open it..)
Pretty much no choice on the cameras anymore.. but I DO have a camera cover on my laptop and black tape over my phone camera.
I am curious how long it has been installed too.. ( can’t be more than a week, I usually notice differences on the desktop :/)

Naw, I am running Win 10 Home (came with laptop).. just noticed it this morning.
My oldest son got me started on Apple computers years ago, so I’ve never changed. At one time he was an Apple tech, but for many years now, he has worked as a graphic artist, and videographer. Over the years, he’s had to move from Apple to PC’s because of the companies he has worked for. I know he was using Linux on his Apple computers at one point, but since he’s had to use PC’s, he uses Linux on his computers at home. He’s still a geek. His hobby is creating mods for people to use in Fallout 4, plus he regularly live streams on Twitch. He’s 54. I don’t know where he got his technical geekness from, but it certainly wasn’t from me. I’m into history. I don’t know how he retains all the crap in his head that he does. He amazes me. He’s obsessive, and relentless when it comes to working on a technical problem, but when it comes to trying to remember things he needs to do in the real world...forget it.
I use it for a couple of auto repair programs, repair info and scan tool on a rugged tablet. No linux or even mac versions for them.
Can I Uninstall Meet Now in Windows 10?
The answer is a big NO. There is no possibility to uninstall as of yet. Microsoft integrated Meet Now in Windows 10 as a new feature that cannot be uninstalled.
So there is no way to remove it. Hiding it is your only option available.
Hide Meet Now from Taskbar
To simply remove the ‘Meet Now’ button from Windows 10 taskbar, right-click on the icon and select ‘Hide’ from the available options.
That is the first thing I did.
I want to UNINSTALL it, not hide it :p
I so hate M$
