On Monday, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer released early analysis that suggested its COVID-19 vaccine was 90 percent effective. The announcement, while no guarantee of a vaccine, was a ray of hope for Americans awaiting an end to the pandemic at a time when new cases are setting records nationally by the day. But a vocal crowd—which has drawn support from the anti-lockdown movement and other conspiratorial scenes—is already voicing its opposition to a coronavirus vaccine.
Adding to the doubt is at least one member of the First Family, who cast suspicion about the vaccine following President Donald Trump’s re-election defeat.
Hours after Pfizer’s Monday announcement, conspiratorial social media channels lit up with baseless claims. Some warned, without evidence, that the COVID-19 vaccine would come with ghastly side effects. This despite Pfizer indicating its candidate had produced no serious safety issues, at least so far, and an array of independent boards and other safeguards in place to prevent dangerous vaccines from reaching the public.
Others alleged, also without evidence, that the vaccine was actually a secret microchip and that Microsoft founder Bill Gates was going to use the microchips for nefarious (if somewhat unclear) purposes. Maybe mind-control, or depopulation.
Another set of critics opposed the very principle of getting a vaccine, claiming the not-yet-available shot amounted to a violation of their personal freedoms.
If these claims sound familiar, it’s because they’ve flooded the internet since COVID-19 swept the planet early this year. The anti-vaccination movement was already loud and troubling before the pandemic, with the World Health Organization naming “vaccine hesitancy” as a top-10 threat to global health in 2019. But COVID, and its associated mask mandates and lockdowns, has turbocharged a new conspiratorial attitude that embraces anti-vaxx.
The closer a COVID-19 vaccine gets, the more bellicose those attitudes become.........

And I'm sure that every flu season, masks will be mandatory and lockdowns are a possibility. Just one big score for the "statistics" industry which is what CDC and WHO is all about.

During the brief time that Joe Biden was President-Elect, the unemployment rate fell from 7.9 to 6.9 percent; and, we got this good news regarding a vaccine. But the Republicans don’t like all the good things that President-Elect Joe is doing, and want to keep counting the vote in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania, and disenfranchising the votes of illegal aliens, people who moved, and dead people. Isn’t it bad enough that dead people have lost his life, and now the Republicans want them to lose their vote! At least we can say Coma-la Harris was the first female of color to be Vice President-Elect, even if for only five days. That’s something the Republicans can never take away from her.
I heard a rumor that they will require you to get a “health passport” which shows you had the vaccine and this will be needed when going to a restaurant, event or whatever ...
I think a mark on one’s forehead would be a lot easier to allow folks to move around, buy and sell, etc.
This “vaccine” is 90% effective. Isn’t the China Flu 99% survivable? Things that make you go hmmm.....

If there was this kind of flack about the polio vaccine, we would have had entire warehouses full of people in iron lungs because of worry it was a Communist plot to sterilize all American men. The anti-vaxxer pearl clutching has got to end. Men need to step up and take that shot like a man.

Polio crippled and killed children, up to 30% of the people infected with it. COVID-kills 80-year olds in nursing homes. It has about a 99.994% survival rate. Most people don't even know they have it. Most that do fight it for a couple of weeks and then it goes away. It's a cold.
Why do I need a vaccine? Not believing I need a vaccine against EVERYTHING does not make me an anti-vaxxer.

LOL to the max! Those who receive the vax will be given a mark that tells people they are safe and immune. No need for them to wear a mask or socially distance. Those with the same mark will be able to party, attend sports games, go to movies, get a massage, dance close with strangers and work out in a gym without a mask. The rest can lay on the couch, clutching pearls, and crazy as a bed bug.

There: In this case it is the correct word to use since the subject of the sentence follows the verb. Verb = “said”, Subject = vaccine. EX: Said there would be a vaccine.
Are you serious about all the good things that President Select Byedone is doing? Like unemployment going down and a vaccine that miraculously happens a week after the election? If you think he’s responsible for for these things then I want to sell you some ocean front property in Nebraska.
It’s the contagious nature of COVID. It might not kill 9 people out of 10 but it will spread to 100 people quick. Then it will kill 10 while 200 are spreading it. Do you get the picture?
I am not anti-vaxx.
I want everyone out there who wants to have one to go for it.
