Patch ^ | 5 Nov 2020 | Chris Rhatigan

Posted on 11/09/2020 5:29:48 PM PST by DUMBGRUNT

An East Haddam woman was reportedly attacked by a coyote twice in a single day. The coyote bit her boot before it was kicked by the donkey in the first instance. The same day, the coyote attacked again when the woman was driving her car near her home.

The neighbors encountered the coyote on their property and shot and killed it.

“She will no longer use her patio alone after that experience.”

I would not be happy after an event like that one.
I do not care for then with in a hundred yards.
Off in the distance they are OK, by me.

One morning before letting our dogs out, I spotted a coyote in the next door neighbors yard;he has a four foot high chain link fence?

Suffice to say, the dogs had a late start that day.

but coyotes “seem” to be desert critters.

I believe they are in every state except Hawaii

“If they’re in Ohio, they’re probably in PA too...”

They are everywhere!

Google some pics of the eastern coyote. It will blow your mind. Some of them are 50 pounds!

Yes...and she’s 85 years old. Lol, not quite in fighting shape to deal with that kind of animal.

“Was the coyote in the passenger seat?”

It was a compact car, the donkey did not fit inside and had to walk home?

Coyotes can be whiley, and this one took advantage of the situation.

Damn... did not know that.

I’ve seen red and grey fox in my neck of the woods, but never coyote.

I have a mini donkey. They are great guard animals, and they really do hate canines. They will kick, stomp, and bite it if comes into their space. That is why you will see a lone donkey with a bunch of livestock.

For those of us who are good at geography but have no idea where East Haddam is, I added the state of Connecticut to the keywords. You’re welcome. Closest places I can recognize are Salem, Mass and New Haven.

They are hybrids here on the east coast. Coywolf is a term that’s used on them. They seem to be a mix of coyote, wolf & dog.

Do you blame a tiger for being a tiger? Or shark for being a shark?

Most coyotes are fearful of people and avoid them. I know they’re pests and this one needed putting down, but I didn’t think it was in its right coyote mind. So I regarded it as a poor creature.

Hey, I praised the donkey! :-D

They are in NYC.

Coyotes are small animal hunters who do not run in large packs.

With the decline in hunting and the rise of green space where small prey makes it's home coyotes have spread all over the USA.

We have coyotes on the homestead and as long as we keep the chickens and piglets in we have no trouble.

Raccoons on the other hand.....they are the devils own predator.

Shot one on my farm in SC three weeks ago that had to weigh over 50 lbs.Fat as it could be. Over 50 % of fawn fatalities are coyotes according to a local study. No rabbits, squirrels or quail..look to the coyote. They are worse than roaches and there are more of them..reminds me of ????

I would imagine they’re considered “varmint” and able to be hunted? Or no?

Lol, not so much in Massachusetts, but in other sane states, I would think that you can take them out.
