I have been struggling with my own feelings as a vet this last week, bordering on embarrassment and anger. The country I swore an oath to is no longer, and I wonder now how naieve I was to think that perhaps that oath meant something. Surely free elections, free speech, free press and the right to pursue your own path were a cherished right, guatanteed by our political process and backed up by our military. No more in this country. The government is corrupt, the press is corrupt and the military is corrupt.

As far as Mattis or Kelly or Alles (not Allen) go, I remember all them as arrogant, discourteous and not as talented as I thought they would be. I am disappointed with them, but they are who they are.
I served a tour and a half with 1/11 and 2/1 - and I’m proud of us and what we did. As I remember, neither Kelly nor Alles ever set foot in Vietnam; didn’t accept their commissions until the war was finished, darn the luck.

In retrospect, I weep for the memory of my great uncle, a Marine who was taken as a POW in Japan as a 19-20 year old kid. He survived the three or so years, but not without enduring head-to-toe, prolonged 8-10 hour beatings, with clubs, shovels and wide leather belts (all documented in post WWII testimony by others).
Is this what he, along with many others, nearly “gave all” for??
The thought crossed my mind that, if this cheating, lying, evil travesty, perpetrated by all these traitorous thugs, like the demoncraps, and their sleazy, slimy, treasonous, rino-rat partners, is allowed to stand, will any decent people at all in the future want to sign up for service to country, or for service in any police departments in the USA?
