I would say the very last line of defense is a physical conflict, and it’s good for enemies foreign and domestic to know this.

They’re leaving the Senate in doubt to blunt the response to the Big Steal. Establishment don’t-rock-the-boat types will say “at least they can’t do much damage if the GOP holds the Senate” and bail on Trump. As soon as that happens, they will find a way - by hook, crook, sedition, treason or outright coup - to take the Senate. They are far far too close to shutting down the United States forever to let the chance pass.

We can blame senators in front of the stupified masses. But if we do, how will we do with a consequent Senate minority? That’s what’s about to happen, if we drop the ball by shooing voters away from Republican senators.
Democrats will start right away with gun control. Democrats will stack the Supreme Court. Democrats will pass further measures to stop elections of Republicans. A third party would be a sickening joke.
