Woman Says 6-Year-Old to Blame for Loaded Gun Hidden Near Disney Entrance

A Georgia woman accused of hiding a loaded gun behind a plant near the entrance to Disney’s Magic Kingdom put the blame on a 6-year-old boy.

According to an arrest report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Marcia Temple was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon on Oct. 8 after Disney workers spotted her hiding her purse near the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

Advertisement Disney workers alerted security and deputies said they spotted the gun as they opened the purse to try and determine who owned it. The 9mm gun was loaded with 10 bullets, including one in the chamber, deputies said.

According to the report, as a deputy was looking at the purse Temple walked over and claimed ownership.

The deputy asked her why she had a loaded gun at Disney and she said her 6-year-old son was supposed to be watching it for her, and she was unsure why he put the purse behind the plant.

The deputy then asked Temple why she would let a 6-year-old watch a gun and she said she was going to get her brother to take gun back to the car, the report said.

The report said Temple was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail. She was also banned from Walt Disney World.

Let’s be honest here.

Who among us hasn’t wanted to take a gun into It’s A Small World?

“Yeah! It’s a Small World! (POW!) And it’s smaller now!”

You can’t coddle them forever! They need to be able to watch a gun eventually.

I would never let my 6 year old take care of the gun. I would have her carry the ammunition.

This is not the first one. There have been three attempts to carry inside Disney property. The one before this is when a bell hop was carrying in luggage and notice that one bag was very heavy at the Polynesian Village Resort. The Oange County police were summoned and the guy opened the bags for them. He had a broke down rifle and a hand gun.

He told them he was worried about his family and the problems in the immediate area and showed them his concealed carry. They did not arrest him. They took the guns and stored the hand gun in the Polynesian Resort safe for him to get when he was going off grounds. And the rifle was stored at the Animal Kingdom armory for him to get when he left the area for good. They were going to be returned with the approval of the owner. Simple way to handle a problem and no one was hurt or even dissatisfied with the agreement. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

i dont hink she was trying.

the way the story reads, i think she went to disney, and yhem rwalized she had left her gun in her bag, and ditched it. not sure whg she didnt just take it back to the car, but maybe they were dropped off.

no indication there was actually a 6 yearcold.

“The deputy then asked Temple why she would let a 6-year-old watch a gun and she said she was going to get her brother to take gun back to the car, the report said.

There was a 6 year old, and according to the article, he was put in charge of the purse that contained the gun. I don’t have any idea why, since the article didn’t say if they were outside the gates or inside, but if they were going to get it to the brother to take to the car, they were still on Disney property. She was banned from the park, and I’m not sure if she was arrested for carrying a concealed gun without a CCP or for child endangerment. Either one is going to get her some real headaches in Florida. But she may get hammered with both since the cops arrested her and I’ll bet she didn’t have the CCP.

The article is poorly written, but it never mentions actually putting eyes on a 6-year-old. The article states that a security guard SAW THE WOMAN put the bag behind the bush, not a 6-year-old.

I suppose it is possible that, having hid the bag, she also asked the 6-year-old to stand by the bag.

Again, my guess is that she realized when she got close that she had the gun, she stashed it so she could run into the park to catch up with her brother who had a key to the car, so they could get the bag back into the car.

not sure what the law says about storing a gun in a locked car at a theme park. But it seems clear she didn’t plan to take the gun into the park.

While I agree she, most likely, was not going into the park to create mischief, she was stupid for putting herself, and the 6 year old, into a problem.

“I suppose it is possible that, having hid the bag, she also asked the 6-year-old to stand by the bag.”

Unfortunately, by answering the questions asked she said:

“The deputy asked her why she had a loaded gun at Disney and she said her 6-year-old son was supposed to be watching it for her...”

Not the purse, the gun is what the Orange County deputy was given. And the officer didn’t actually see her hide it, park personnel did and alerted the cops.

The happiest place on earth is full of rides, characters, and security. Security measures are all over the park. Certain measures are in plain sight, like metal detectors and bag checks at park entrances, while others are less obvious.

While there are many security measures guests can see, there are some that are less obvious. Disney parks have undercover security guards dressed as tourists walking around the park. If security needs to talk to a park guest, only two people speak to them, according to a former security guard at Disneyland. Security guards do this to “keep it as un-embarrassing as possible but also to make it low key. We don’t want to interrupt your experience by dealing with another guest,” a former security guard said in a Reddit IAmA, according to PopSugar.

Every night after Disney parks close, the Mickey After Dark team checks every ride for safety. According to Disney Fanatic, “unless a ride is cleared by the Mickey After Dark team, it will not operate the next day.” The team runs tests and replaces parts on a regular basis. All while this is happening, security cameras get the team on video with their security cameras. Security catches people having sex at the park all the time. Someone’s bound to catch you, even in your car. Security often catches teenagers having sex in the parking structures at Disney parks. The “problem is that parking garage is filled with cameras,” a former security guard said in a Reddit IAmA. If the kids are underage, security guards are legally obligated to call their parents. If guests are over 18 years old, security escorts them out of the park.

According to Disney Fanatic, the rides at Disney parks are equipped with many safety measures. Every ride has video cameras, some with night vision capabilities. The platforms where guests board rides have pressure sensitive mats to alert staff if anyone gets off the ride. Some of the safety measures are so unique to Disney, the company has a patent on the technology. For example, the seat belts on the Dinosaur ride are patented because of their safety features, according to Disney Fanatic.

Forget about trying to sneak anything into a Disney park. Thought Catalog reports Disney has people screening guests at park entrances in an especially sneaky way. “We have people in front of us and behind us that are always watching and we can call them to follow you once we know you have something,” a screener said. “If we see something you have that’s forbidden, we know you will just rehide it,” they added.

There’s a police station and fire station at Disney World

The Wonderful World of Disney Magical Holiday Celebration
Police have a permanent presence at Disney.

Disney World has a police station and a fire station on the park’s property. EMTs, firefighters, and police officers can get anywhere in the park on a moment’s notice. Local law enforcement has a permanent presence at the park because of the volume of people who visit the park. Additionally, Disney screens and hires some of the best security people you can find and they are in civilian clothes throughout the park along with audio and video equipment. The biggest joke for years was the he/she antics in the Monsanto ride. (Cameras) And those cameras have speakers on them to direct traffic and warn guests to sit down or keep their hands in (some things).
