Virginia certainly is part of the South; and I’m hereditarily - and Maryland is geographically - ‘contiguous’ with the South...

Dear.

Contigous, eh?

Nice save.

Your ancestors decided the question some years ago.

During the American Civil War (1861–1865), Maryland, a slave state, was one of the border states, straddling the South and North. Despite some popular support for the cause of the Confederate States of America, Maryland would not secede during the Civil War.

GO Dodgers!!

Yeah, Go.... Away.

Didn’t watch a single minute of professional sports the whole year. Didn’t miss it.

The Dodgers are the most pro LGBTQ team in sports.

Woke. Hope they go broke.

Most of my baseball cards are now worthless and with new MLB rules coming in about the length of games, etc., they will make good compost for my garden.

Glad I have a few of the older players. They were worth watching.

Yeah, and it's not just the pro sports leagues who went full Marxist BLM. Every major company in the U.S. is also eagerly promoting and/or funding Marxist BLM and its related organizations. Academia, the Democrat Party, and the fake-news MSM are also enthusiastic supporters of the violent Marxist BLM thug riot organization.

Given the huge amount of money heavily flowing into the coffers of the violent BLM riot organization, I expect violent BLM riots to be with us for many years to come. Marxist BLM has easy access to a practically unlimited supply of funds. And when the pro sports leagues, the fake-news MSM, major U.S. corporations, and academia don't provide adequate support, George Soros is always at the ready to step in with many more billions.

Fletch with Chevy Chase. It’s a classic guy film.

LA should name the Rays manager as MVP. He gave them the game by taking Snell out.

So the Dodgers won the World Series! I have tried my best, but I can’t think of a single person to call that would give a rat’s azz.

Dodgers win, what a fun playoff and good World Series. That manager made a major screw up removing the Rays starting pitcher, that guy was in a groove.

I am a lifelong Dodgers fan, but also a lifelong Peanuts fan. There is more evidence that Charlie Brown preferred the San Francisco Giants, as evidenced by these 1962-63 comic strips below, and by the fact that Schulz was living in Sebastopol, CA, near San Fran. Outside of Schroeder the catcher, none of the Peanuts gang wore their baseball cap backwards.

At least we all despise the Yankees.

No, not ‘contigous’ - ‘contigUous’.

I didn’t have any ancestors in Maryland, at the time. They were all in Ole Virginny - or Europe.

(And I’m glad they dumped ‘Ole Virginny’ and made the state song ‘Shenandoah’, instead. It’s pretty much the most beautiful American folk song that we have):

‘Shenandoah’ has nothing to do with Virginia !

It’s not the Virginia State song
Current Virginia state song

Yes its lame !

Can’t have “Carry Me Back to Ole Virginny” since it’s a minstrel tune. They’re all woke now in Virginia.

Shenandoah depicts a voyageur and his Native American wife and children. - “Oh Shenandoah” (also called simply “Shenandoah” or “Across the Wide Missouri”) heading west past the Mississippi.

Oh, Gosh - I see now that they changed it again a few years ago.

But even though the lyrics are far less beautiful (poetically, relatively insipid) at least they saved the music.

I wonder why they didn’t want a beautiful song referencing Native Americans? They’re willing to turn everything upside down to fit their various narratives, it wouldn’t seem too great a stretch to retain reference to a name that does have VA importance.

(In Old Virginia, the First Families actually took some pride in any rumour that they may have possessed some Indian blood in their backgrounds - as long as it was ‘royal’ or ‘chieftain-ly’ enough.)

On further investigation, the history of the name of the valley and river in Virginia seems itself mixed-up - and one version is probably the reason it first became the State song:
