My cousin who is a head nurse at a local hospital in Chicago suburbs gave me this info on covid. These are the text messages from her. Take her information as you wish.
From what I've seen, there are very high false positive And negative rates. Also, if you test positive, then test again 3 days later and are all positive, that counts as 2 positives. What we can't dispute are the number of actual hospitalizations, which are definitely up in my area, but I'm very specious of anyone who has zero symptoms but comes up positive. The good news is that critically ill cases (needing ventilators) appear to be going down as we've learned so much about treatment. Those with comorbidities such as diabetes, copd, obesity are highest fatality risks, however fatalities are a pretty slim percentage. To compare it, I think there were like 7 gun violence deaths in Chicago alone compared to the 15 Covid deaths in the entire state of Illinois. No death count is ideal, but compared to other pandemics and causes of death, death from Covid seems to be pretty low comparatively.
Unfortunately I don't see the connection with shut downs and how it helps support the hospitals. I do with mandating masks, hand hygiene and social distancing. If restaurants and bars can manage these guidelines with limited capacities, I'm not sure I understand the shut downs.

A business with dozens of employees here shut down for a “deep cleaning” due to a “presumptive positive”.
The latter term is used to describe someone who - via ‘contact tracing’ - was found to have possibly been in proximity and/or contact with someone who tested positive.
No employees at the firm have tested positive.
It is unknown whether the business shutdown for “cleaning” was voluntary or compulsory, but certainly the liability factor played a part.
Imagine the damage which one person could do if they knew that they were positive and then later tested as such, with government contact tracing left to its own devices...

This has been political from the get go. Some people are just slower to realize it.
As soon as we pushed through the two weeks to "flatten the curve" period in the spring into more draconian measures that micromanaged every aspect of our lives, I knew this was well beyond health and safety and into the political realm of blame Trump to get him out of office. It was blatantly obvious to me.
Biden's campaign has even said their focus the last two weeks before the election will be to criticize Trump's handling of the pandemic. It's political all right and has been for months now.
And that tack continues in the mainly blues states like California, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, etc, etc, etc to this day. In some cases it has only gotten worse, not better.
California's Newsom has dictated (translated: dictator) detail by detail on how you may celebrate Thanksgiving next month, if you can still call it celebrating. Things like wearing a mask in between bites of food. Holding the dinner outside only. Two hours maximum length. Three families only. If you have a fourth family of kids and grandkids, they have to be excluded. You can go inside to use the toilet but only if the bathroom is sanitized in between uses. No singing, chanting or shouting at all because it promotes transmission of the virus. There's more, but if you don't think this isn't political, you need to wake up and smell the tyranny coming.
The governor of Illinois has effectively closed the restaurant and bar businesses back down except for outside only with freezing temps coming. Who goes out to eat at a restaurant only to have to sit outside in the freezing cold? No one. This is all political.
Just take the precautions to avoid getting sick and being quarantined. We need every vote we can get in six days!

I disagree. The stories will intensify under a Biden win so he can control the country more. Civil rights will never return. People will be put into camps.
Trunp should have done better in controlling the message and response early on. His laziness caused great harm to this country. He got fooled early on. Honestly I doubt he will do better if reelected.
