Clint Eastwood At 90

Posted on 10/24/2020 1:48:20 PM PDT by Allen In Texas Hill Country

A friend emailed this to me. Don't know how truthful/accurate it is.

*********************************************************

Preparing to say goodbye... a message from Clint Eastwood

My Twilight Years at 90 ...

If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end.

There will come a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more."

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat.

It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let everyone of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, "He was my friend, and I know where he stood."

So, just in case I'm gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron that spent eight years-in the White House trying to destroy our wonderful country and turn it into Muslim loving, socialist crap hole like he came from and I don’t mean Hawaii!

********

Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.

Regards, Clint

Make My Day -- Pass it on!

Found this on youtube posted in 2014: A video of the contents of the email you supplied

Snopes says it's false:

A representative for Eastwood also told us that he had nothing to do with this item.

Anyone who has viewed Clint Eastwood’s infamous “empty chair” monologue at the 2012 Republican National Convention likely has no illusions that the Academy Award-winning actor/director was a fan of President Barack Obama. However, a much-circulated piece about the realizations of one’s “twilight years” which ends with a castigation of President Obama was not a reproduction of anything Clint Eastwood said or wrote.

In typical urban legend-like fashion, the earliest appearances of this item (from September and October 2013) are simply postings of untitled and uncredited e-mails that made no mention of Clint Eastwood; not until about three months later did versions identifying this piece as “Clint Eastwood’s Twilight Years” begin to appear. (A A representative for Eastwood also told us that he had nothing to do with this item.)

So if you believe Snopes, and that they actually talked to this so-called representative for Eastwood and that he actually told them that Clint had nothing to do with this item, then it's false. But if that is a lie then it may be true. 8>)

Yeah, life is all about proving how stupid you are. If I had worked out, eaten well, and otherwise taken care of myself I would be dead.
Now, at 80, I have diabetes, heart disease, one kidney, 40 lbs overweight, and virtually no muscle mass.
BUT I run a 2 hr YT stream daily (Father Fish), have lots of friends, operate a retail business, and support Trump with gusto.
Life is nuts.

“Here is the Independent Journal’s Oct. 1, 1951 account of Clint Eastwood’s plane crash off Point Reyes:

Two servicemen, who battled a thick gray fog and a strong surf for almost an hour last night following a plane landing in the ocean near the Marin shore, are returning to their service units today uninjured.

Army Pvt. Clinton Eastwood, who wandered into the RCA radio station at Point Reyes after struggling in the ocean, told radio operators he and the pilot were forced to land their AD-2 bomber in the ocean and left on life rafts.”

>Say what? An AD-2 bomber is a NAVY bomber, not Army. Famously known as the “Skyraider”... which was in constant operation off aircraft carriers near the coast of Korea during this time - the same time Eastwood allegedly landed in the Pacific - in 1951, when the Korean War was going on.

The AD Skyraider was the Navy’s main weapon against the North Koreans at the start of the Korean War, and the Chinese Communists after they came into the war.

How is it Army Private Clint Eastwood would be in a Navy Skyraider at this time, “returning to his service unit” (which would be Army not Navy) to land in the Pacific?

Something’s screwy here.

I turned 80 this year, and the number 80 is scaring me, but not much else. If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself before.

We get old too soon and smart too late {I'm 79}.

My understanding is he was desperate to get back to Fort Ord before his leave was up and took a backseat ride in this little bomber. His duty during Korean Conflict was apparently spent as lifeguard at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA.

FReepers tend to be quite gullible.

Really? What percentage of FReepers would you estimate are quite gullible? A few? Some? Many? Most? All?

It may be false, or so I’ve heard, but I would not trust Snopes to give me the right time of day! The people who run it are notorious leftist shills.

Thanks. Makes sense...kind of.

As any aircraft carrier Navy vet can tell you, it just doesn’t happen that an Army private would be riding around in an aircraft carrier plane...whether bomber or fighter.

But in this case, the state side situation you mentioned Eastwood trying to get back to Ford Ord, hitching a ride in the bomber (the AD-2 a two place trainer, not the standard AD-1 single seater), sounds more plausible.

Summary of eRumor:

This is a forwarded message allegedly written by actor Clint Eastwood called “My Twilight Years.”

The Truth:

This message has been found anonymously posted in boards around the Internet long before it was attributed to Clint Eastwood. It appears that someone tacked on his name to the story and attached his photo to lend it credibility.

The attribution of this opinion remains a mystery, according to a March 7, 2014 article in the Austin American Statesman’s political fact check website, which said they did not know if Eastwood wrote the opinion, but they had their doubts. Request for confirmation from the Statesman went unanswered by the movie star.

The Statesman did manage to contact Paul Miller, the publisher of Eastwood’s hometown newspaper, the Carmel Pine Cone. Miller responded, “I’ve covered Mr. Eastwood for 20 years, and gotten to know him fairly well, and I can (un)equivocally state that he would not do such a thing. If a ‘chain mail’ that purported to come from him arrived in our newsroom, I would not even spend two minutes to check it out; I would just ignore it.”
