Pure jealousy and resentment. Jealousy that EVH’s talent was recognized and profoundly respected. Resentment that ‘his’ own music, is scarcely remembered. What he’s remembered for is a rotten liver and being able to buy a new one with the money from ‘his’ music.
Graham Nash on David Crosby: He tore the heart out of CSNY
During a special featuring Paul Shaffer as host, Graham Nash discusses his history with Crosby, Stills & Nash, along with his tumultuous relationship with bandmate David Crosby.Graham Nash Wants to Fix his Relationship with David Crosby
Correct.
79? I thought he died years ago.
Robert Redford is knocking on his door.
A Southern man don’t need him around anyhow...
He looks more like Cap'N Crunch.
He's also a hack. Had it not been for the Wrecking Crew, the real musicians that played on those early Byrds and other albums, Crosby would be just another burned out boomer.
Bob Dylan wrote, “Mr. Tambourine Man.”
Pete Seeger wrote, “Turn Turn Turn.”
Joni Mitchell wrote, “Woodstock.”
Graham Nash wrote, “Teach Your Children Well,” “Just a Song Before I Go,” and “Our House.”
Neil Young wrote, “Ohio.”
Timothy B. Schmidt wrote, “Wasted on the Way.”
Rick and Michael Curtis wrote, “Southern Cross.”
Stephen Stills wrote, “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.”
NONE of the hits of any of the bands he was in was he an important part of. He’s a f***ing RHYTHM guitarist for a folk band. This ass hat probably doesn’t even know whay Eddie Van Halen is famous. Niel Young would’ve bitch-smacked him.
Hell, he probably doesn’t even know why Jimi Hendrix was so famous... because Crosby, unlike Young, just plays straight, simple chords.
Meh....Crosby has never been anything special
Eddie was a modern day pioneer of the guitar, with a few guitar patents to boot (so I've heard)
All I know is, that in high school when Van Halen I came out it sent a shock wave through the parking lot at lunch time, LOL!
Also, the sound quality of Van Halen recordings is extremely rich. Kudos to the recording engineer!
"Jamie's cryiin', wow wowwwwwww.." YEAH! One of the great rock and roll albums of all time.
RIP, Eddie!
David Crosby was booted from the Byrds. Nobody in CSNY will talk to him. His contributions to music were not as great as he thinks. ESAD
>> a curmudgeonly old man
Exactly
But likely a dismissal of the sobbing masses that had to be reminded who EVH was.
I mean did anyone think David Crosby liked Van Halen music? Van Halen music is about the polar opposite of CSN music. Why even ask Cosby about EVH? Silly.
No surprise here on his response and I give the guy a few points for honesty in this age of fake accolades and phoniness.
Crosby was Melissa Etheridge’s sperm donor for her child. I guess the bank was all out of good ones that day.
Yep, the “liver transplant line jumper”...$$$ talks.
Their first album was their best. Yes, we all loved it.
Youre 80% correct
On the first single or two Melcher had the wrecking crew lay down the instruments and the Byrds vocalized over later
Except Roger McGuinn who could really play well even then on that Rickenbacker 12 string
I grew up on the Byrds
For me I prefer Sweetheart which is Graham mostly
But especially Untitled......where they really rocked .....man what a great version of that band
Lover of the Bayou is a great song best turned up loud outside around a campfire properly buzzed
Those were good days
That little album ....their final which was a reunion I liked as well
1973
The mid 60s albums were mostly about the single
Buffalo Springfield albums had more depth and texture
But Untitled is one of my favorite albums of all time...a top 20 for sure...especially the live recorded side
When the singer of the Sex Pistols is more classy than a chum bucket like David Crosby, it speaks volumes.
You do what Dr. Laura would tell you to do.
Whenever you’re forced to be around or give opinions on people you may not particularly care for (such as family holidays, press interviews, etc), you be polite.
Not necessarily friendly or complimentary, just polite. Then you go in the other room and watch TV.
I just spent the entire evening watching videos of EVH,and all that Van Halen did. Crosby can go eff himself. Eddie was a TRUE musician, along with his brother Alex. Crosby is a wannabe hack. And this is from someone who PREFERS acoustic music vs hard rock. But, you gotta give kudos to the truly innovative, paradigm shifting talent out there, and EVH was HUGE in this regard. May he RIP.
I loved David Crosby for what he did on Long Time Gone and Cowboy Movie
He was without question the pied piper of the freak movement west coast era from 68-75
Especially at the Woodstock apex as CSN
All that was my era like many here and I related to what they were singing
Problem is he never grew up from it
He had tragedy early on and made loads of self inflicted injuries
Its just pitiful
I mean Graham Nash
If you know Nash all your life ....and at the end of it Graham doesnt want to have anything to do with you.....
Then you must be a first rate dick.....
Graham is a gentleman
Do yourself a favor listen to The Hollies anthology
Vastly underrated vocals from Graham and Allen Clarke and Hicks on guitar
Bus Stop....man those were great days of youth......love grows under my umbrellla
Anyone else remember that ....
