I believe John McAfee is a lot like Hunter S. Thompson, crazy, but balanced drugs and life better. Plus, his liver may be bionic. haha.
Just over the past year he must have done 100 or more Youtube podcast interviews from his Farraday cage in the secret location where he and and his wife were living . I’ve listened to dozens and man this guy is one fascinating dude . Cracked me up when he said he’s been drinking 2 quarts of scotch and smoking 2 packs of cigs a day since he was in his 30’s , and tried every illegal drug on the planet hehe !

He invented McAfee antivirus, sold it for big bucks. Went to Belize where he was charged with murder. A girlfriend at the time tried to kill him. Wanted for cyber crime related to bitcoin like stuff. Has been on the run for years. Sex, drugs and rock and roll.

It was Cal Berkeley/Military grade stuff from the 90s, played with it 4-5 times in Mendocino County - ah the good old days.
A large portion of the planet has his antivirus software (he sold the company upon their IPO of 1999) on their computers. He is one of the legends of the PC software industry.
Since then he has led a very eccentric life, a thing of folklore in Silicon Valley.
There is some sort of documentary coming out on him. He also wrote an autobiography which maybe is coming out soon

True story: I started college in Chemical Engineering.
My Organic Chemistry lab book had the chemical formulas for cocaine, LSD, and TNT. My lab partner was a Ritalin snorting maniac. I’m not sure what happened to him. This was in Florida, so I assume he was a “Florida man” at some point.
