Could North Texas be getting some of Nasdaqs systems?
Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday that the Lone Star State could be in the mix.
I've been talking with the Nasdaq stock exchange about moving some of their operations to Texas, Abbott said in the message on Twitter. They want to flee high taxes. I let them know that we just passed a constitutional amendment banning an income tax in Texas.

Taxes have consequences.
Move it somewhere more deserving than liberal Trump-hating Dallas.
Taxes have consequences.
One of those consequences is Texas.
New York will pass a law requiring govt approval to leave the State. You watch.
Screw Abbott
Open the STATE for We The People!
Power hungry County Judges are in control ... I choose to ignore them now
If they move the servers there, then a lot of the high-speed traders will follow.
“I let them know that we just passed a constitutional amendment banning an income tax in Texas”
yeah, and no doubt would be perfectly happy to ban taxes on securities transactions as well ...
“If they move the servers there, then a lot of the high-speed traders will follow.”
yep, traders need to have connections to the main trading computers that are no further away than a few nanoseconds in distance ...
A couple of weeks go by and suddenly news of some servers moving to Texas. Surprise!
This is the second left wing former Goldman Sachs CEO that we've had as Governor and once again he knows nothing about basic economics. How do they get to that position being so stupid?
FACT is that, in today’s modern technical/technological world, and with today’s easy and fast travel means, there is no need to do business in a city or big town.
If Google and Apple and stock traders can work from home and meet virtually, just about everything can be done away from the big cities.
In fact, cities were created a few millennia ago, when travel was difficult and doing business at a distance was difficult and dangerous. Better to be located local and not worry about the elements and long hours of travel.
Only if you need to be next to a family member or friend, would you need to be local.
Cities are a basically, archaic and obsolete, for the most part.
Why would a company want to move from a high tax state to a low tax state? It just doesn’t make sense..
For Freepers who’ve been out of the loop on this the last month, a (democrat - Surprise!) bill calls for a quarter-of-a-cent tax on stocks, options, futures and swaps trading via northern New Jersey electronic data centers. It’s goal is allowing the state to collect an estimated $10 billion annually from entities engaged in at least 10,000 transactions per year.
Obviously, NASDAQ is looking into more favorable options.
This.
Why would anyone move from a pony country to a non-pony country? Seinfeld.
Abbott is determined to turn Texas Democrat.
I thought it was just DFW. Is the ‘-’ like the ‘-’ in ‘G-d’?
“FACT is that, in todays modern technical/technological world, and with todays easy and fast travel means, there is no need to do business in a city or big town.”
Exactly. Commercial real estate is not going to be in good shape as people and business be practices adapt. I have no reason to drive to an office. Wife doesn’t either. Not everything can be done virtually, but a lot can.
Fox News may move if the crime rate stays the same...a lot of women work there..
