Trump campaign adviser says rally protocols won't change after President's coronavirus diagnosis

Washington (CNN) A senior adviser to President Donald Trump's reelection campaign said Sunday there won't be any additional safety protocols for upcoming rallies following the President's hospitalization after contracting Covid-19.

Senior campaign adviser Jason Miller, when pressed by CNN's Ana Cabrera on the safety of the Trump's campaign rallies which have largely flaunted best public health practices, said the campaign would take the temperature of attendees while providing face masks and hand sanitizer -- the same steps that were in place before Trump's diagnosis.

"You know what, that's been a very safe and responsible thing to do," Miller said. "That's what we've done from the beginning of this."

His comments, paired with Trump's Sunday photo-op in which he left the hospital with his security detail so he could ride in an SUV passing supporters, raise more questions about whether the President and his campaign grasp the seriousness of a highly contagious and deadly disease.

Good. I was worried that they were going to let the Dems get away with their dream of killing the Trump rallies.

I watched that ...”interview”. Ana did the typical dem operative disguised as a journalist thing. She would ask a question and then go on a rant while Jason tried to get a word in.

She asked a question and then answered it for him using made up stuff.

She was quite unhinged as they all were. It was right after President Trump took a victory lap outside Walter Reed and it set the DNCmedia on fire.

the problem for the whiners is that they have been pushing fear porn for months and Trump has trolled them again by simply not dying. But, worse they think, that he should push it off and keep on fighting.

Everybody on the left keeps conceeding that the stupid masks won’t protect you, but are about “protecting” others.. and this whole episode show just how silly this distorted thinking is.

i mean, the president can’t get it again, or spread it, so what’s the point?

They already are taking a lot of precautions, and mostly it is people’s individual choice both whether to attend or not, and what type of protection they want. The venues are purposely keeping the crowds down so there is room for social distancing, and the more people crowd together up front, the more space there is in the back.

If I attended a Trump rally, I’d stand further back, in some free space, with my zombie mask on. But I don’t fault people for doing differently — they are adults, they can take their own very minor risks, like they did coming to the rally.

In fact, I feel like the most dangerous part of a trump rally would be getting to the rally, fearful that a democrat will assassinate me.

I have to say—I attended the Minden rally in NV (and so glad I did!) and everyone’s temp was taken and there was plenty of hand sanitizer around. PLENTY! And it was pretty easy to stay 6 feet away from others actually (unless you wanted a GREAT view of the president).

But there were no masks handed out. I keep reading that they “are always handed out at the rallies” so maybe Minden was an exception.

Anyway, it is almost impossible to catch the virus outside (and people who wanted to wear a mask of course just wore the one they brought with them) so no big deal.

It’s so hard to catch the virus outside that I think the “Rose Garden superspreader event” actually occurred in the indoor reception afterwords.

I’m in CA so “well trained” ha ha by my tyrannical governor and county health officer and did choose to wear a mask at the Minden NV rally. Most didn’t. What was cool is NO ONE CARED whether I wore a mask or not, and I didn’t care that so few did. It’s about FREEDOM and choice and options. We are all adults.

Seeing a president in person, especially THIS President, I felt was worth the very small risk.

I don’t think I would have gone to an indoor rally, however. I’m a huge believer in the safety of outdoors as far as covid goes. One study of 7000 cases showed only one case could be traced to outdoor transmission. It’s almost impossible to get it outdoors, which is why all these maskless crowded rallies (and the looting and rioting Dem “rallies”) don’t seem to spread covid.

I don’t think it spread in the Rose Garden SC event. It spread at the reception afterward.

Anyone know more about this indoor reception? Who went to that?
