It’s about a half century beyond time for them to shut down, but I’ll take it now.

I’m sure they are shaking in their boots. It was probably too late 50+ years ago to do anything about them. I think the NSA is the biggest single employer in Maryland, they are all huge. And no politician is ever going cut “security” budgets much, if at all, in the 24 hour news cycle culture. What if something bad happens that could be then blamed on the cuts, true or not?

With the stroke of a pen, the President could (as far as I know), switch any of the FBI’s functions to another federal law enforcement agency. For example, counterintelligence and public corruption could be switched to some combination of the DEA, ATF or Secret Service. It seems to me that shutting down the FBI is unrealistic but changing up roles and missions is not.

Intelligence agencies are a branch of the CCP. No reason to trust a damn thing they do.
There’s nothing but rot in the upper levels. Short of a Stalin-style purge, we really need to do a full shut down and start over.
