I dont remember where I was when my dad nominated Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Supreme Court, but I do remember how I felt: very excited and a little surprised.
This was 1993. I was thirteen years old. In elementary school, I had learned about Sandra Day OConnor, who had been confirmed twelve years earlier as the first woman justice of the Supreme Court. But until Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I didnt realize so many years had passed without there being a second.
I was like this as a kid. I believed the world was fairer than it was. Which is why I admired Justice Ginsburg so much: She was the rare adult who made our country live up to a childs inherent sense of fairness.
Justice Ginsburg served on the court for 27 years. She wrote 483 opinions, many of which were intent on making every American who felt excludedwomen in particularbelong.(snip)
Because of her work, not only as a Justice but also as a lawyer, you cannot be fired for being pregnant, or denied a credit card or a spot in a public university because of your sex, or rejected for a marriage license because of who you love. She was a 51 legal giant. Who could possibly replace her?
One of the final cases Justice Ginsburg heard was about birth control. The Trump Administration had a new regulation that would roll back coverage for contraceptionit was a bad rule, which Justice Ginsburg argued against. But she lost, and countless women lost with her. The president got what he wanted.
If President Trump succeeds in placing Amy Coney Barrett as Justice Ginsburgs successor, I expect that he will get even more of what he wantswith disastrous consequences for the country.

Kind of like I remember hearing that it was the Kennedy Seat when the fat drunk died.
Says the ummmm, individual who deserved NOTHING she got.
Seriously, does she NOT know what her daddy did with cigars???
Doesn’t she have an NBC job waiting for her somewhere?
Barrett doesn’t support pedophilia like Ginsburg?
“A: Well, Helen loved men and money, so its not surprising that she had a thing for Donald Trump in the 80s. In 1989, she actually asked Trump to pose nude for Cosmo, just like Burt Reynolds famously did in the 70s stretched out and smirking on that bearskin rug. Donald declined. Apparently, Helens assurance that Cosmo would cover him up with a stack of books or a flower pot wasnt quite assuring enough.
But in many ways, a younger Trump embodied her idea of That Cosmopolitan Man. After spending a weekend with Donald and his then-wife Ivana at their lavish Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., Helen wrote about the visit in her editors letter: Donald is charming, handsome ... and so successful at forty-one ... some (jealous) people are waiting (and waiting and WAITING) for a serious flaw to emerge. It just isnt emerging.”
Suck it, Chelsea.
Chelsea’s as full of crap as a Christmas turkey.....yes, I’m sure she was taken into utopia by the RBG appointment at age 13. She was taught pandering and lying and it shows.......spit!! Go brush your teeth.....
Deserve it? No. She EARNED it. Every honest new story about her makes that clearer.
Is it wrong for me to have so much contempt for Chelsea?
Chelsea, it wasn’t RBG seat, it wasn’t owned by her. She was renting it.
That’s true, at 13, I was a freshman in high school, not in elementary school...
She probably thinks he invented the Webb and Hubbell Telescopes.
He is a retired attorney and Author of books...he and Hillary were co workers for the Rose Law Firm ....
He has not denied or admitted to being the birth sperm of Chelsea...she was raised as Bill Clinton's daughter...Hillary won't ever admit the truth...but Chelsea looks just like her birth sperm donor and his other children...very much alike. ..
This dumbass doesnt mention a word about the man RBG replaced. Byron White, a white male, conservative Judge.
Chelsea:
YOU never deserved a $400,000 “job” at NBC......
OR a multi million $$$ wedding paid for by your
family foundation’....
OR the fancy $10 million home in New York City.....
JUST SHUT UP
