PALAISEAU, France A schoolteacher whose body, face and tongue are covered in tattoos and who has had the whites of his eyes surgically turned black said he was prevented from teaching at a French kindergarten after a parent complained he scared their child.
But the teacher, Sylvain Helaine, 35, still teaches children from the age of six up, and said that, after an initial shock when they see him for the first time, his pupils see past his appearance.
All of my students and their parents were always cool with me because basically they knew me, said Helaine, who estimated he has spent around 460 hours under the tattooists needle.
Its only when people see me from far away that they can assume the worst.
He said last year he was teaching kindergarten at the Docteur Morere Elementary School in Palaiseau, a suburb of Paris, when the parents of a three-year-old child complained to educational authorities. They said their son, who was not taught by Helaine, had nightmares after seeing him.

I now have another niece (different parents) determined to go down same road. When we ask why, she says it's to "express her individuality" when we all know the real reason is she's under peer pressure.
So ironically, a lot of these young people get tattooed in order to "conform" with their peer group. It's not about expressing individuality at all!
Used to be that society didn't tolerate this. No girl in my high school back in the 1970s would even consider a tattoo (or piercing her lips, nose or tongue). But as we become more and more tolerant as a society, the "shock value" bar continues to get raised.
Yeah, he should NOT be teaching or near little kids. Maybe he’s the kindest person in the world but that would scare kids.
I’m sorry, but I find this form and degree of physical mutilation of the body just another form of the psychological disorder - identity dysphoria - a mental health issue. If I were the head of any school, I cannot imagine hiring this person for any “education” class. He should just work in the Tattoo industry. At least he would accurately represent his work.
I’m sure he’s exactly the stable, rational person you want teaching young children.
Should call it Body Grafitti.
Homeschooling! Theres a reason for it.
Seems to have a bird theme going.
Matches his brain.
I’m sure there are a lot of ‘tard judges that will rule in his favor.
Lost his job.......that’s one for the “no sh#t Sherlock” file.
Your body is Gods Temple. Pretty straight-forward if you ask me.
So just Christian-themed tattoos, youre saying?
Not in my book, but that’s just me.
How about all of these stupid white chicks, in their 20s, who get tattos. Wait till they hit their 40s.
The Tattoo for young females is another variation of the black boyfriend trope.
Lost his job.......thats one for the no sh#t Sherlock file.

Maybe he can apply for a job as an investment banker.
“Ive run into a few people who have overdone it with the tattoos. Most of them are very young when they do it. By the time they wise up enough to realize what they have done, its too late. They basically rob themselves of a normal life.”
My younger brother was in his 20s when he got his first and only tattoos (on his arms). Just a few. His circle of friends at the time were all years younger than him. Teenagers. Yeah, my brother was the type who chose to not grow up by hanging out with teenagers.
He got the tattoos not because he really wanted them, but because he wanted to impress his teenaged friends (he also got one of those tongue rings for the same reason, but on a different date). Normally, I gather, when a guy has something tattooed on his body, its because the names or pictures he wants embedded in his skin really has some sort of sentimental meaning to him. Not my brother. He picked some drawings at random off the tattoo artists wall.
One was a tiger seeming to break out from within his skin. The other was a more decorative piece that had japanese lettering on it. The tattoo artist told my brother how its pronounced and what it means in english.
Years go by and his teen friends grow up and drift away. Leaving him with his tattoos, but without a social life of any kind. He has long since forgotten how to pronounce the Japanese lettering on his body as well as what it means in english.
I wonder what IT will look like, if he joins me in “The Cracked Chest Club? The eyes at center mass will windup crossed!
He’s sol now not even circuses are hiring
Another reason to homeschool...
Expressing individuality today is NOT getting a tattoo or piercing.
When everyone else is doing it, how is doing the sale thing expressing individuality?
