Just Days to Go! Could the CDC No Sail Order Be Lifted?
Cruise Hive ^ | Sept. 26,2020 | Robert McGillivray

Posted on 09/26/2020 1:05:54 PM PDT by Capt. Tom

On September 30th, the No Sail order from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will expire. Will the CDC lift the ban or will another extension be added to a long six months period without cruises.

Since the CDC No Sail Order came into effect in March, many companies have ended up in severe financial trouble. Another extension of the no sail order will surely put some of these companies over the edge of bankruptcy. Of course, the major Cruise Lines did not receive any stimulus packages as many are registered in ports of convenience.

The Cruise Lines are preparing to go back to sailing, and are expecting the CDC to cancel the no sail order. With cruises already operating successfully in Europe, the U.S. cannot stay far behind.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) member lines stated this week that they are ready to start sailings and could be underway in 30 days or less. The issues lay mainly with flying all crew in from their respective countries, which will take a considerable amount of time.

No matter the stance the CDC takes on the no sail order, they do have in their hands the future of millions of people dependent on the Cruise industry.

The Cruise companies, the travel agents, the crew, and the guests that enjoy the ships, every one of them is hoping for positive news. Positive news that has been sadly lacking in an industry devastated by the coronavirus in the last six months.

You are getting a little twisted up in your contradictions. You called it a "petri dish". Then you said you read the recommendations that will include testing, new health protocols, social distancing, and yes, masks. That makes it one of the more safer places to be. Name one other place you could go with all of that in place. But then you contradict yourself yet again, implying that you won't go not because it's a petri dish, but because they are trying to make it too safe with masks, etc. You know, the whole "cruise free or die' thing? What happened to your petri dish fears.

You might want to think it through, pick one extreme and stick with it, rather than bouncing between the 2.

When was the CDC given the authority — and by whom — to set national policy for this country?

This is the question. The founders never placed public health higher than freedom.

I understand “can’t promote killing leaders or yelling fire in crowded rooms” but those extremes shouldn’t be such long, slippery slopes.

When you book a cruise, you should sign off on risks of contagious illness. Period. Let us live how we wish. Pursuit of happiness. Yeah, it might kill us. So what? Let us choose.

I agree with you 100%. Very good post, btw. It ties in nicely with the concept of “It’s better to die on your feet than live on your knees”.

What is life worth, if you’re not allowed to live it?

“You are getting a little twisted up in your contradictions. You called it a “’petri (sic) dish’”.

I never called a cruise ship a Petri dish. I was responding to someone who did. In fact, most of your post was responding to someone else’s post. I don’t have “ petri (sic) dish fears”.

I was mmaking a point that we cruised, some got sick, and we all recovered. We got much more ill three years ago — pre-HOAXdemic — on a cruise and we all recovered.

I never would wear a mask on a cruise, and I don’t consider ships Petri dishes. I’ve caught more “bugs” at church than on ships. A little sick twice, 30+ cruises ... not a problem. I’ll cruise again in a hearbeat if/when stupid restrictions are lifted.

Ya pays yer money, and ya takes yer chances.

Now run along and research back through posts and figure out to whom your post should’ve been directed.

My sincere apologies for getting the two of you mixed up. I should have been more observant of who had responded.

Thanks. Yes, we can’t cower to preserve “cowering life.” Cowering life isn’t worth preserving. Why, when your dog is weak, vomiting bile, in pain for days, elderly, would you want 2 more months of that for him?

Today I heard that “if we all socially distance and wear masks every flu season, flu cases would go way down.” Where does that end? Families cowering in caves til May each year?

Best is to keep your families healthy, eat and exercise well, protect the delicate family members, and get out there and live. Illnesses will always be there.

What’s really funny (not in a ha ha sense) is the lack of knowledge regarding cruise ship sickness. Whenever a cruise ship has an outbreak of norovirus it makes national news.

The greatest chance of getting norovirus in the good ole’ USA is in a hospital, school, restaurant or nursing home.

Only 1% of recorded cases are on cruise ships.

And I’m with you Madam...no mask for me on a cruise ship. They can sail without me if I have to wear a mask.

I will be looking at sailings from Europe and Asia and Caribbean countries. They can not be dictated by CDC.

Some of best cruises (among the 3 dozen or so) Me and the family enjoyed were in the Mediterranean area. Cruises from Asian ports (Hong Kong, Singapore etc) tend to be a bit crowded, but still very enjoyable.

I remember it as the Norwalk virus, before it got tied to Cruise ships as the Norovirus.

The press would have you believe you only get it on Cruise ships. -Tom

» From Mt Sinai medical lab-
What is Norwalk Virus?
Norwalk virus is a common cause of vomiting and diarreal illness each winter and has often been referred to as "stomach flu" or "Winter Vomiting Disease". Norwalk virus infections have been linked to outbreaks of vomiting and/or diarrhea in institutions such as child-care centres and long term care facilities as well as on cruise ships, camps, schools and households.

The Norovirus group were first identified as the cause of a primary school outbreak of vomiting/diarrhea in Norwalk, Ohio during the early 1970's.

So you want to slip out of this country for a cruise?

Perhaps the CDC could require you to get a CDC approved Covid-19 vaccine before you go? /S -Tom
