The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is non-political respite. No matter what, you wont be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
Picked up two pretty eggplants at the farmers market. This beats my steamed garlic spread. Too bad I didnt see this before breakfast. I also picked up a bag of spicy mix greens, sautéed a little of thatwith some cider vinegar for my breakfast veg.
Still no rain here. But 75 degrees.
I water every day, but ground is still parched to the max.
Cukes still producing.
Knotweed extermination is done for the year.
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
That’s so sweet!
Do you have to register a Wrist Rocket in CA? Just curious. I’d hate to see you get into any trouble. ;)
The pumpkins are just gorgeous. ‘Cinderella’s Footstool?’ I can’t remember what you said earlier in the season...
Bert! Ping to Post #20 for eggplant breakfast recipe idea.
Totally jealous here... My pumpkins got crushed when a giant Oak fell (90 footer!)... Make a few pies for me...
I hate when my pumpkins get crushed!
Lovely pictures as usual. Those are big strawberries on your “work table”. You are a treasure. I found a recipe for garlic soup that really sounded good. Making it today - a small batch about 3 quarts and using 3 big heads of garlic. House smells great and it simmers for a few hours at least.
Mmmmmmm.......like your greens recipe.

Leaves are falling here. Some change in color. Working on garden clean up and preparing for the fall planting-garlic and then rye.
Got a new grow light for the lemon tree. Lemons are turning to yellow-soon will be harvest time for those. Received new bulbs for the plant starter lights which both burned out this spring.
Ordered basic seeds for next year and have received most of those. Not the best of garden harvest this year, but could have been worse.
Nice pics. Those berries look sooooo good and huge too.
Those are so pretty-and I’m so jealous. We haven’t had much luck with our berries for several years now.
Ha Ha. Sooooo Funny and Witty too.
The fields are flooded, the berries float to the top and they are either hand or machine harvested, depending upon the size of the field.
So, the next time you're adding 'craisins' to scones or muffins or salads, having a glass of Cranberry Wine (which is fan-tastic!) or enjoying Cranberry relish at your Thanksgiving meal, they have most likely been grown in Wisconsin.
