We normally don’t write about random people on Twitter, but Dr. Bueno here has been getting ratio’d all day now and has only added to her thread, so we don’t think she’s concerned about the comments.
In short, she wants a refund or voucher from Airbnb because her rental in Maine was in view of Trump yard signs and other white nationalist symbols, which she later explains could include the American flag. These made her immediately terrified for her life, and she wants Airbnb to understand the trauma Trump signs cause a black person.

My husband rented a place in Maine and when we arrived in the evening we saw Trump yard signs and other white nationalist symbols. I immediately was terrified and scared for my life and family safety

We left and @Airbnb says they cant do anything. Prime example how white companies make a BLM statement but when Black person tells them they didnt feel safe they do nothing

I’m sure this person has no idea whatsoever how unsafe we feel when seeing BLM signs........
I went to a McDonalds this morning.
There were POC there with their pants sagging and showing underwear. Obviously gang.
And they were flashing gang signs. Well, they had fingers on their hands, I’m pretty sure.
And I think I heard one of them say, “Bro” or “Man”.
So I immediately asked the clerk behind the counter if they could do something to combat this extreme racism!!!
Oh, and also asked for my money back (and a free McMuffin) to help me overcome my triggeredness.
And they have the nerve to call their offerings catering to kids “Happy” meals.
I have a Psychology PhD friend who sees a therapist regularly.
Think you’re on to something...

OT.. I just watched an interview of Bo Derek on the Hallmark show ‘Home & Family’. Nice interview until she was asked about her choice of wearing cornrows in the movie ‘10’. She said she loved how beautiful cornrows looked on people in her neighborhood, so she had it done. The movie director thought it was great and approved her wearing the hairstyle in the movie. Well, she actually apologized for it saying she would Never be so insensitive as to appropriate like that today. These people are nuts. What ever happened to imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

When I was in high school I was once seated in a McDonalds waiting for the afternoon bus to take me home after football practice. My friend, a large black kid, was sitting with me. He was wearing a full length leather coat.
By all accounts, he was a good looking guy and the full length coat made him look bad ass.
Two bumpkins from out of town were downtown attending a concert. I heard one of them say to the other—as they pointed at my friend—”Look, he must be a pimp.”
WE had a good laugh at that. This guy ended up going to West Point, doing 10 years in the Army, and another 20 in the reserves, and at the same time doing 25 years as a State Trooper. Hardly a pimp—and probably more of a conservative patriot than many of the people frequenting this site.
I bring that up because your comment about gang membership sounds just as ignorant.
You really need to spend more time around young people in this country. Sure, they dress like fools. But they are not all fools.
There were other things that people were focused on in that movie.

My rural area has lots of Trump signs and even Trump flags.
Some of them have “Law and Order” signs as well.

P.S. The last major crime in this area was so long ago that even the oldest of the old timers can’t remember it. Rumor is that there was a murder in the 1800s.
