Software Update
Apple today released iOS 14, iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, and watchOS 7.
This is probably the biggest iOS update in years... read all about it on the source, MacDailyNews, as there are too many improvements to list here.

You dont have to use Apples Milanese band which is quite expensive. I had one which for the first generation set me back $200. It started to look worn and shabby. For my next Apple Watch, I bought a third-party Milanese loop band on Amazon that was just as good a quality as the Apple Watch band for $20. Im still using it, three years later and it looks like new. Ill get another when I upgrade to the new model watch.
My wife is 77 and she loves her's. Never thought she would like it so we bought the Grand kids some 4's for Christmas saw how much they used their's so sprung for a used three then got the 5 when they came out. Passed to 3 onto a relative. M? I really don't want another toy hardly use a phone, I don't drive by myself anymore so don't really need one. Guess I could get the limited version on their kids plan that would let me find the wife in the store if I get lost.
Got a Gen. 4 model. Like it. Seeing as how I ride a cycle, I figured the fall detector could be a life saver out on the back roads. Or any roads for that matter.
Been using my pillow for sleep tracking. watchOS has that built in now.
Rush is a beta tester. Hes probably been running it for a while.

You dont choose a watch face and get stuck with it. With an Apple Watch, bunny, you can change watch faces fifty times a day if you like, and likely not repeat one! Its easy as swiping across the watch crystal after pressing down on it. I have several favorites, including on thats a gorgeous photo of my lovely lady. . . And another thats a photograph of my beautiful granddaughter. Ive got another with complications that duplicate a $50,000 watch. I can swap between them on a whim. Ive even got a Mickey Mouse... theres Minnie for you ladies.
Thanks, thats great. I will still wait for the 14.1.x version.
It will come. The updates always come.
I dont care if Im back in 1998 on the updates. I probably shouldve stuck with a flip phone. I think I only like the camera features on these newfangled iPhone things. I cant always have my good camera with me. Its a bit heavier than my iPhone, and doesnt fit in my back pocket. These iphones come in handy for that, even if the photo isnt so great.
Can you turn off the always on screen? I like it black for a lot of reasons, especially at night.
Dream on.

"iOS 13.7 lets you opt-in to the COVID-19 Exposure Notifications system without the need to download an app. System availability depends on support from your local public health authority. For more information see covid19.apple.com/contacttracing. This release also includes other bug fixes for your iPhone. Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222 "
First they said, "You have to opt in AND download an app."
Then with 13.7, "Oh, you don't need an app anymore."
Who knows what they did with 14.
I recommend that everyone block the update and don't move beyond 13.6
There is Theater Mode which keeps it dark until you tap the screen.
Notification System IS NOT TRACKING, TexasGurl. It only allows a user to opt in to receiving notifications about exposure hotspots promulgated or aired by the local Health officials on the internet. It has nothing to do with the user being tracked. It allows the PUSHING of those specific type of notifications to the users iOS device IF they opt in by allowing those announcements to use the iOS notification API. There is nothing illicit here. . . its the same as permitting another news service access if the user OKs it.
This has ZERO to do with tracking you and uses none of the new APIs on your iPhone. It uses the Apple News App to add another localized news feed which you select to receive, this one specifically about Covid concentrations in your local area which would statistically be noted by the health department. It permits you to take advantage of the crowd based data without participating in the crowd. It merely lets you know that there are a lot of infected people at XYZ location, and you should avoid it.
I’ll Google that on Amazon
yeah,...I have taken bad falls and live a long way from an y relative. thanks for the info.!
Cool....I will look for that.
I just bought myself a new MacBook Pro and one for my adult nephew. he loves it!
Not having an iPhone is it much different from say years ago.
Android has not changed much over the years.
Maybe more spying...
You have to opt-in for COVID tracking.
Dont not get security updates.
AAPL at $111 and falling pre-market - bargain long term buy
Yea, I use that for sleeping. In that mode the flashlight defaults to red instead of white. Nice attention to detail, that.
What Im looking for is for is a mode to work with raise to look. The original way.
Yesterday Rush announced that altho he was the go-to Apple maven in his circle, he would NOT accept questions about the new OS (for a few days, I suppose). He wasnt explicit about why, but I took it that he expected people to have trouble with it. Maybe only because of a plethora of new features . . .
I had my phone next to where I normally charge it overnight last nite - but it wasnt in need of a charge and I didnt plug it in.
Could be that I should systematically avoid overnight charging for a few more days???
Year or so ago they upgraded iTunes, and I havent used it since.
