Not having an iPhone is it much different from say years ago.
Android has not changed much over the years.

They have a lot more functionality and are much faster, and in fact, are faster and more powerful than many desk top computers. The cameras are good enough that there have been several full length feature films shot on iPhones, and both professional nature National Geographic Magazine and Fashion Magazine photo shoots, even cover photography, have been done with iPhones.
The iPhone is far more secure than any Android device, as the iPhone is protected with a hardware Secure Enclave and Encryption Processor built into the silicon at the hardware of the System on a Chip, buried deep inside the processor but independent of the system processor and inaccessible by any apps or the system processor. The iPhone has a built-in encryption processor which encrypts the data on the iPhone to a 256bit AES standard with a hidden constructed key that even the user does not know, only knowing a part of what that key is made of. Apple does not know it either. The key itself is not even stored on the device, but is constructed anew each time the device is unlocked with the user’s passcode, which is part of that key and interspersed into the actual encryption key according to a hidden algorithm. The vast majority of Android phones rely on downloaded third-party Apps for encryption, if they are encrypted at all, and store the key somewhere on the phone in an unencrypted location.
Apple iOS devices receive OS upgrades on a regular schedule and security updates, for up to six years after the device was introduced. Android? Meh. Users are lucky to get perhaps one update or two... many manufacturers just don’t support OS updates. For some, updates require technical knowledge to modify the device to do.
The new iPhones are now water-resistant rated for 2 meters for up to 30 minutes, but there have been iPhones that have survived several months in the ocean at unknown depths that were still operational after charging. So they are actually pretty water proof. Same for the new Apple Watches. This applies to any iOS device rated with an IP68 rating and no head phone jack.
The Android phones have improved too. Competition raises all boats.
