Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump tops the list of things Germans fear the most, a new survey found. But in a twist that surprised researchers, Germans reported feeling less scared overall than theyve been in years.
The results surprised even the researchers. For the past 28 years, an annual survey into the fears of people living in Germany has been carried out on behalf of R+V, Germanys largest insurance firm. And now somehow in 2020, the year of the coronavirus pandemic, Germans turn out to be less afraid than theyve been in decades.
Of course, they are wearing masks in public and are cautious, but only a few are afraid of contracting COVID-19. Thats one of the reasons why this years so-called fear index fell from 39 to 37%, the lowest value since the survey began in 1992.
Germans are not reacting to the pandemic by any means with panic, Brigitte Römstedt, head of the R+V Infocenter, told DW. Many of the worries seem to be subsiding. [ ]
Economic fears and possible job losses are again at the top of this years fear index. Concerns about the rising cost of living came in at second place with 51%. [ ]
On November 3, US voters will head to the polls to elect a new president or re-elect the old one. For many Germans, a second term for US President Donald Trump would probably be a nightmare.
Trump ranks number one this year on Germans list of fears at 53%. The US president has topped the R+V fear scale as early as 2018.
(Professor Manfred G.) Schmidt (a political scientist at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg) sees these concerns as justified, pointing to the trade war with China or verbal attacks on even allied countries like Germany.

Is this supposed to be a bad thing?
Given the lying leftist media making him look like a monster, is it any surprise ?
Wonder how much money our troops in Germany contribute to their cost of living.
Commiescum and Pedo-lovers fear DJT, in Germany.
Fixed it.
Neither is really a threat to them, but how Trump could pose any threat at all to them is a mystery. #orangemanbad
Sounds fine by me.
If they want to be scared of stuff tha wont hurt them, while the muzzies murder them off, thats their choice.
So #TDS crosses the pond? Sad, but not surprising. So many are programmed by the media.
With the following quote, we know that this article is just one more piece of propaganda: “”Trump’s foreign policy has repeatedly caused serious international entanglements.”
Huuuuh?? Like bringing two different Muslim countries to sign treaties with Israel in the span of 28 days, whereas there had only been two previous treaties in 72 years. What entanglements? Is he increasing a presence in Afghanistan? Iraq? Anywhere?
Their one sided trade relationship with us finances their social programs essentially. They leach off of America. The host is scraping off parasites and they fear they are next.
Im not sure I believe this. The MSM are liars.

That would actually be logical, so that’s probably not why. Their media is as bad as ours. 24/7 badorangeman.
Just one more reason to re-elect President Trump.
RTÉ, because public media matters now more than ever!Redoubling on the brainwash while people are stuck home under power-grab lockdowns.
And yet I’ve read that the largest ethnic group in USA are Germans
Just like they feared Churchill.
Western Europe is already pretty libtard in general. The media is even more consolidated in ideology and in the bag than it is over here. Although there is this weird dichotomy where many people are very racist but will pull the lever for Green/Socialist whackadoodles anyway.
Germany for its part has this deep cultural shame due to its history and Soviet influence they have a deep suspicion of nationalism and aggressive posturing and even the concept of ‘winning’ so this naturally extends overseas. They hated Bush II too.
Trump’s grandfather was from Germany too. I doubt they have too much animosity based on the fact that his mother was from Scotland, but I could be mistaken.
