Please help bring sanity into my routine. The lock-down is beginning to act like a disease - not a horribly bad one - but a disease nevertheless.
What programs are on Netflix (my brother's account, not mine) or Amazon Prime that are worth the time. I wish we could get Poirot here in the states.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I tuned out the junk and just choose to remember the good parts.
````
According to the news we can expect a lot more tuning out in the next years
I forgot the whole Away thing, it was so poor in my estimation.
I don’t know about that, but I’m pretty sure it has to be on one of those channels. We had the best luck with Acorn.
I just saw a new Dune trailer. What do you think about the other Dune movies? The first was a theater release, and I think the next one was on the SciFi channel.
“Did you miss Longmire?”
Never even heard of this until this thread. Cuz, please tell me the best season or your favorite season and I will look at it today, Sunday.
I think it’s on Prime. At least it used to be.
I’ve seen almost all of my favorites listed here except for Money Heist (Netflix). My husband and I really enjoyed that one.
Other faves already mentioned: Longmire, The Fall, The Killing, Ozark (although too much homosexual stuff the first season), Goliath
The only version, if you want to call it that of Herbert’s Dune that was appealing to me (had the actual movie been made} is the story of how the movie was planned: Jodoworowsky’s Dune (2013, IMDb 8.0). It was planned to star Salvatore Dali among others, featuring hand drawn sets and a 100 page script.
Some French and German dialogue
Just start with season one.
You won’t be able to watch anything else until it’s over.
Lilihammer on Netflix, hilarious!
Trailer Park Boys is probably one of the more redeeming shows on NFLX. Pluto is the center of my universe however.
Foyles War is the best thing ever. Just finished all of
Line of Duty,.. Incredible!!! Next season of Line of Duty delayed due to Chicom virus.
Blacklist is waaaay good also.
Thanks. I will try season one of Longmire. If you have not seen any Bosche you should try it. Even if you get Amazon Prime for a week and quit/ Only 4 dollars or so.
Turn, George Washington’s Spies
That series was the best TV drama I’ve ever seen. 75% historically accurate, great cast, gripping story.
It’s about a NY spy network that captured Benedict Arnold. 4 seasons, about 40 episodes.
You’ll thank me.
I see others recommending Foyle’s War, and will also give that two thumbs up.
But man, I see some of the recommendations here.... pure crap. Vikings? Yeah, the first two season were good, then it turned into this fantasy show that had female viking warriors...good grief... Peaky Blinders was awesome season 1 & 2, then the first episode of season 3 it was obvious they would turn PC so I quit watching that. Breaking Bad? Good, but goes on wayyyyyyy too many seasons. Sherlock Holmes BBC? Pretty good but in the later seasons gets way over acted, especially the main villain thing, drugs, turns into too much fantasy.
I’m mostly a fan of foreign movies, and especially love the Korean Thrillers. I must be on to something, since Parasite won best picture.
Truth is, I’m contemplating going back to video games. I find myself bored out of my mind at about 6 pm and have zero interest in watching tv/movies. Trouble is, once you start playing video games...you can get hooked and wind up all night.
Just saw #Alive, a zombie flick in the vein of "Train to Busan".
Get The Burning, Old Boy, I Saw the Devil...
The French and the Koreans are my two favorite countries for movies.
I think German movies are some of my all-time favorites, especially “Goodbye, Lenin!” and “The Lives of Others”.
You did just remind me to plug the best English language film that I’d seen in many years. Death of Stalin. Extremely good, funny, interesting, great cast.
Death of Stalin gets crappy ratings -— https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_death_of_stalin++++
***** Know that many/most Russians were crying in the streets when this rat bastard was done in by alleged doctors. At age 74.
