James Bond actress and Game of Thrones star Dame Diana Rigg has died today at the age of 82 following a short battle with cancer.
The British actress made her name in the cult 1961 TV series The Avengers, before going on to star as the cutthroat matriarch Lady Olenna Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones.
More recently, Rigg appeared as the eccentric Mrs Pumphrey in the 2020 adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small - which aired last night on Channel 5.

Sad to hear. Last seen (by me) in Doctor Who.
She was probably my first adult crush after Annette.
The House that Jack Built was my favorite episode.
That was outre.
She starred along side of who could have been one of the best James Bond ever, George Lazenby. Unfortunately his hippie agent convinced him to step down from the role after being offered a seven film contract. Lazenby’s fight scenes were brutal.
She nailed that role!
I am feeling very sad at the moment.
RIP Ms. Rigg
This may very well be the best FR Obituary thread, ever.
RIP.
Nothing wrong with Genesis or Mrs. Peel. Two of my favorites, I was into Cream and Foghat also. Clapton has always amazed me.
Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins?
Diana Rigg/Emma Peal was one of the most astonishingly attractive women/characters of all time. Her distinctive voice was also part of the package.
RIP. So sad.
RIP loved her in Victoria.
Yeah. I didn’t fully appreciate Clapton until I read his book and gave him another listen.
I was mostly into horn bands (Chicago, BS&T, Cold Blood, (T of P), and called Genesis “rock meets classical”. I was a big classical music and big ban fan (hence the horn band love).
I just realized I’m hijacking the thread.
To the subject at hand, I never understood why she didn’t become huge. Must have been some personal issues like Grace Kelly.
I think she wanted to branch out a bit after The Avengers, she actually had a very long career, and avoided getting type cast.
‘Mrs. Peel...we’re needed!’
Sadly, everybody gets old and dies. I saw all of my parents’ icons bite the dust and now it’s happening to all of mine. It’s the circle of life. :)
I see this life as a sort of reality video game. Except you only get one life. You do your best with what you are given, and then it’s game over, and others take over to build on or fix (or undo) what you did.
She was sure cute, though, and great personality, at least in her roles.
Jesus..Mrs. Peel is dead.
Childhood’s End.
