Some would say Dune is unfilmable due to the complicated world, jargon, much of the exposition are thoughts, and the main character does not follow the traditional hero narrative arch. See if the third time is the charm after the Lynch movie and the Sci-Fi miniseries.

I was just about to post this too. This might be my last movie in a long time, I am just completely burned out with Hollywood. But I will go to see this one. It looks like they are making a sincere effort.

I’ll pass.

It looks like Disney version of Star Wars stuff crossed with the newer dark batman vibe.
As per usual, the visual effects are candy but meh

Liet Kynes has been changed from a white man to a black woman - but that won’t keep me from seeing the film.

It HAS to be better than the first one. That was the 1st movie I ever walked out on early. There just was no point in staying to watch it any longer.

I read three books in the series a few decades ago before I got bored. I was really disappointed in the first movie.

I’m looking forward to this one when it is free on Amazon Prime. :)

One can bet money that the entire plot has been altered and updated for a more PC viewing. No thanks... I never even bothered with the first one.

Movies have sucked for a very long time in the USA, since the early 80s. But the difference is that it’s not just most of the movies sucking, it’s ALL OF THEM.

The only thing I’ll watch is non woke foreign films.

Yup--you nailed it.

Some books are not great fits for movies--in fact, science fiction short stories are often better fits for the genre.

Watching the trailer, it looks like a remake of Lynch’s attempt but with better CGI. Some don’t care for the original but I’ve always enjoyed watching it and it did help that I read the book first.

I see Groot’s sidekick is in it. He was great in My Spy.

I honestly don’t know how they are going to condense that book into a reasonable length movie. Movies are kinda like pop songs. Not much substance but highly entertaining. That’s why we’ve not seen Rendezvous with Rama or Ringworld turned into movies.

Pretty good trailer. With luck those aren’t the only good scenes in the movie.

Interesting that they use Pink Floyd’s 1972 Dark Side of the Moon as the background music.

It wasn’t until about the two minute mark that I realized I was listening to the end of Dark side of the Moon (Eclipse).

Appropriate.

This looks to be a heck of a lot better than the original.

I’ve read several of the books. I saw the David Lynch movie. I know the story of Dune pretty well.

This was, in my opinion, a very confused trailer. I can’t imagine too many average people seeing this and thinking, “That looks interesting”. Now, I’m not saying I didn’t recognize most of what was going on, but I think most people would just say WTF?

The 1984 movie was so bad, I'll let others take one for the team. I'll probably watch it from the comfort of my home theater eventually, but I suspect even if it's better than the 1984 version, it will be woke and misandrist. I've tried to rewatch the original a few times when I was up late, but am always reminded that it really was as bad as I remember...

“Father! The Sleeper is WOKE!”

No thanks. I’ll wait for the Netflix release or a free RedBox coupon.

Liet was one of my favorite characters in the book. His vision is what literally reshapes Arrakis.

The Dune books are very dense iand adopting them to a movie format is a huge challenge but it can be done. Peter Jackson proved by turning Tolkien’s books into great movies that no book is out of reach.
