The Golden Girls is being revived with an all-black cast, which includes Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross.
The iconic sitcom - which ran for seven season between 1985 and 1992 - revolved around the lives of four white women living together in Miami, but the new project will seek to 'reimagine' the situation from a black perspective.
Fans should not get too excited about the beloved program returning to the airwaves, however, as the revival appears to be a one-night special set to be broadcast over Zoom.

The show “friends” was stolen from the brit show “coupling” which was hilarious
Regina King seems too young. She was great as Detective Lydia Adams in 5 seasons of Southland though
“four white women” ... were they typical white women? /s
“Beloved sitcom Golden Girls set to be revived with an all-black cast with Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross replacing Betty White and Bea Arthur in their iconic roles”
theoretically, that could be hilarious if it was produced in the vein of “The Jeffersons” or “Sandford and Son”, that is, actual comedy ... but everyone knows that won’t be the case, because the show is almost guaranteed to be driven exclusively by the promotion of leftist claptrap and very little actual humor ...
Estelle Getty (before she developed Alzheimers) would have made the perfect Grandma Mazur from the Stephanie Plum book series ..
While they’re at it, why don’t they redo everything in ‘color’?
The Andy Griffith Show
Dick Van Dyke
The Honeymooners
etc...
The Andy Griffith Show
Seems only fair considering that the original show left out what would have been a large part of the population of a North Carolina town.
The Honeymooners
That's already been done for the big screen with Cedric the Entertainer. Some people will tell you that Jackie Gleason took a lot from Amos and Andy. And some people will tell you that the original Amos and Andy were White. Blacks and Whites have been borrowing from each other for a very long time.
The bigger problem may be that so much of TV is remakes now. An age or an industry that had more self-respect and smarts would be able to come up with something new.

Yes, she was fine as an LAPD detective on SOUTHLAND...It was on TNT...I did like SOUTHLAND...
Back in the 1980s, I watched HUNTER on NBC...It was usually on Saturday nights at 10 PM...
I did watch GOLDEN GIRLS sometimes because it was on before HUNTER...
If they were looking for modern day black equivalents to the original cast, actresses like Adella Gautier, Leslie Uggams, and Debbie Allen would be much more appropriate:
-PJ
Its a one episode special on zoom. Nothing to cancel. No advertising. Good grief. Take a pill.
What whites are going to do Sanford...?
...theyll need to change names to reflect our rich privilege. Like Skippy and Son. No more Lamont. Its now Porter. Grady is now Connor. Aunt Esther is now Cynthia.
These women are in their 40’s. A bit young to be playing The Golden Girls.
will Wesley Snipes be playing Dorothy instead of Bea Arthur?
“””Never cared for the Original show.””””””””
Never could stand it. I always thought the big one looked, sounded and acted like a crossdresser.
They might have to rename it to “The Dusky Dames”....
Black “Chico and the Man.” Or M*A*S*H.
Im sure theyll have the stupid white people on as the butt of jokes. No thanks.
