The Golden Girls is being revived with an all-black cast, which includes Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross.

The iconic sitcom - which ran for seven season between 1985 and 1992 - revolved around the lives of four white women living together in Miami, but the new project will seek to 'reimagine' the situation from a black perspective.

Fans should not get too excited about the beloved program returning to the airwaves, however, as the revival appears to be a one-night special set to be broadcast over Zoom.

All this says to me is Hollywood isn’t creative enough to come up with new characters for black entertainers. It doesn’t speak well for the black community having to rely on “white” roles.

“Golden Girls” wasn’t beloved. They were pretty disgusting, IMO. For the era, though, I guess it worked.

The only black comedian that was acceptable was Bill Cosby and we learned how he treated black women. I never did watch any of the other black shows.

The show will bomb but will be kept on the air for ad infinitauseum. The scared media will declare it an "astonishing success."

When the sponsors run dry the new show will close.

The Jeffersons was a spinoff of All In The Family, which was in turn a derivative of BBC’s Till Death Us Do Part.
