As promised when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its Academy Aperture 2025 initiative in June, new standards of representation and inclusion have been announced by AMPAS today that will gradually be put in place for the 94th (2022) and 95th (2023) Oscars, but in full effect beginning with the 96th Academy Awards in 2024. In its most dramatic swing towards true diversity, Oscar is laying down significant requirements in order to be eligible for Hollywoods most sought after prize: Best Picture.
Having at least one Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native, Middle Eastern/North African, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander or unspecified other underrepresented race or ethnicity as a lead or significant supporting actor is a potential requirement under the new guidelines, with those ethnicities also mentioned for prominent production and marketing jobs. Additionally employing women, LGBTQ+, members of a Racial or Ethnic group, and people with cognitive or physical disabilities or who are deaf or hard of hearing may be required for at least 30% of actors in secondary and more minor roles, having a storyline centered on an underrepresented group, hiring creative leadership and department heads, maintaining least 30% crew composition, paid internships, and representation in marketing and distribution are also all potential areas in order to be a Best Picture contender. Producers dont have to meet all of the requirements of the new doctrine, just half.

With so many new genders being discovered every year by Woke Departments at "institutions of higher learning," the number of Oscars issued could be phenomenal!
My gratitude goes to Hollywood - whose awards shows I've not watched in 15+ years, for giving me ever more reasons to not watch.
Wait, they’re using race to discriminate?!
Somebody call the SCOTUS, check if the 25 years are up
They should apply the same to the NBA.
At least one Jewish guy, one Asian, and the teams must be 60% white.
Well, the 70s pretty much did it for me.
Affirmative action destroys everything it touches.
I will say this about Mark Cuban, he does like his white players.
No movies about Europe prior to 1600 is eligible then, I guess.
[The Lawrence of Arabia reboot starring Jackie Chan.]
“Rawence of Alabia?” Has potential.
worked for Hamilton
We should all just start identifying as African-American women and demand all the affirmative action perks that accrue to such identification and when they say we aren’t African-American women call them racist homophobes.
No more movies about German Submarine crews.
And any number of other types.
Farcical.
Why I primarily only watch foreign movies now.
I think “Train to Busan” was the last movie I watched.
The end of actual interest in who or what is actually the best of all, but who is best in each ‘diversity’ category. Sounds like “Oscar” has joined the “everyone gets an award club,” thus destroying the original intent of the awards. But then, I’ve stopped watching 99% of modern movies, as they rarely top those made back in the 30’s through 60’s.
More racism. The last thing we need in society. We already cannot abide all the DNC and BLM racism
My wife and I go back to slightly older series and moviesanything to not watch the new PC crud. We watched Fresh Off The Boat until Disney made all the ABC shows convert a character to being lesbian or having another sexual orientation to laud. We watched The Last Man On Earth on FOX until they made two characters lesbian. There have been other similar unveilings elsewhere on CBS, too.
We dont need to be subtly or overtly indoctrinated. Gay people make up less than 3% of the population, but polls find younger people think over 20% of the population are gay.
So when I hear PC going the next step against Hollywood, I ask, What can we all do to hasten Hollywoods demise?
They already do that and the movies fail time and again.
The requirements are passive aggressively anti-Semitic.
