We came from Mars—and that is the hidden secret.

If it will be so glorious, maybe they should strap him to the rocket to Mars. Light ‘em up...

He's right. In the age of sail the brits in particular sent ships far and wide on missions of exploration, mapping islands and other geography, performing nature studies, and trying to figure out of they were worth seizing, basically. Men on thos journeys were out there for years, caught diseases, died in large numbers from a variety of causes. But they saw some spectacular things and made lasting contributions to knowledge of the world as it was in that time.

Probably a very good analog for what the first expedition to mars will be: long, dangerous, immensely important historically.

The first reasonable reply.

I remember my younger teen years when I was enraptured in sci-fi novels and my young male mind dreamed of far off places ... I think a VERY American, young male characteristic.

I believe America was based and built entirely on the whims and dreams young boys were allowed to mature and enact as men.

Having said that, I WANT to think there are still some dreamers out there.

No one has EVER posited what happens in zero gravity to a sperm and egg conception in a human female ... not in mixed company anyway, but trust me ... little boys have been on it for over 50 years.

I agree, there is still a pioneer spirit in America and God BLESS it.

Or stop it.

“You will die.”

But we’ll all die in 11.267 years on earth anyway, so what do we have to lose? It’s 4.359 years if Trump’s re-elected.

I nominate Juntin(e) True-dope to colonize Mars. He can graduate from being a Prime Mistake of a mere country, Kanadahar, to ruler of a planet! Go for it, Justin(e); it would be glorious! Most Canadians would be behind you all the way.

“The Moon is a good starting platform to learn how to build a sizable life-supporting environment.”

No magnetic field. This is where a storm you can’t see or feel will kill you.

I am thinking send in the machines.

Is that not what Evil Knevil said?

But then he chickened out and pulled the cord immediately.

Does no one on this thread think self-sustaining human habitats can’t be built by robots? What about contained local terra-forming? Huge projects, but can be done with current technology. Finance and time are the problem, not the technology. Radiation? Ever hear of Faraday containment? If you have a bird in cage, you already have one. Just surround the transport ships with a Faraday cage system for emp and current systems for cosmic radiation. There’s a reason that the ISS doesn’t kill all the astronauts that have been on board for years.
