Marine One departs WH as Pres Trump heads to a campaign rally in Fayetteville, NC. It’s his 7th visit to NC this year, 14th since taking office. It’s a state he won in 2016 and is determined to keep it his 2020 column.

Pres looking to start the confirmation process “extremely soon” once he announces his nominee for the Supreme Court, probably next week. Disagrees with those saying the next President should fill the vacancy, though noting that he expects to be the next president.

.“Yeah, I think I can say that it would be a woman,” he says of his nominee for the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters before leaving for his NC rally, he says,“If somebody were to ask me now, I would say that a woman would be in first place.”

Air Force One lands in Fayetteville, NC and taxis to hangar for Trump campaign rally – 3rd night in row (WI and MN).

On Air Force One flight to NC, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows conceded the new vacancy on the Supreme Court “changes the focus” of the campaign for both sides. “It does change the focus, without a doubt,” he said.

Pres uses opening remarks at campaign rally to pay homage to the late Justice Ginsburg. Says agree or disagree with her opinions, she was an inspiration “to all Americans.” Then quickly pivots to replacing her on the court: “we’re going to fill the seat,” he said.

“We’re very close to a great deal with TikTok,” trumpets Pres Trump at rally. Says deal involves Walmart and Oracle. Calls it “an incredible combination.” Emphasizes that all the technology remains in the US.

After polling his supporters at the rally getting louder cheers for choosing a woman for the Supreme Court, Pres declares, “it will be a woman – a very talented, very brilliant woman.” He says he hasn’t yet made a choice, but says he has “numerous women” on his list....per Snide Knoller.CBS

Barbara Lagoa, a 52-year-old Hialeah native who was the first Cuban-American woman on the Florida Supreme Court, was confirmed to the court on an 80 to 15 vote on Wednesday. Lagoa is the first Hispanic nominated by President Donald Trump to be confirmed for a U.S. Court of Appeals vacancy out of 48 judges.

“Trump’s already had five appointees to the court, it’s already a much more conservative court than before and it might be the second most conservative court in the country,” said Carl Tobias, a law professor at the University of Richmond who tracks federal court nominations.

Tobias said the appointments of Luck and Lagoa to the 11th Circuit mean that seven of the judges were appointed by Republican presidents and five were appointed by Democrats. Combined with Republican-controlled legislatures in Florida, Alabama and Georgia, Tobias said the court could be a testing ground for conservative policy on many different issues.

Less than a year ago, Luck and Lagoa were appointed to the Florida Supreme Court by Gov. Ron DeSantis after serving as judges in the Florida circuit court system. In September, Trump nominated the pair to replace two federal judges.

She’s a member of the Federist Society.

Lagoa attended Florida International University and Columbia Law School before serving for nearly 13 years on Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal prior to her Florida Supreme Court appointment. She also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in South Florida and spent over a decade in private practice.

Eight of the nine current Supreme Court Justices served on a federal appeals court before being nominated to the nation’s highest court.
