As I sat and watched "Rebecca" for the hundreth time..(pretty close..lol) it dawn on me the similarities of "Gone With The Wind"..and "Rebecca". David O. Selznick produced BOTH movies. And both won Acadamy Awards. The Big difference was..Alfred Hitchcock directed "Rebecca" And being a big "Rebecca book fan...I'm thrilled Hitchcock was the director to give the mystery from the book.
Vivien Leigh through both movies was dating Lawrence Olivier who played in "Rebecca". Olivia De Havillard (Melaney)is the sister of Joan Fontaine who played in "Rebecca". Lawrence wanted Vivien to play his wife in "Rebecca" but Hitchcock had picked Joan instead and Selznick agreed she was perfect for the spot.
