I have been reading about the Third Servile War against Rome. There are parallels here.
There's a successful defense mounted on irresistible impulse.
After the trial, the judge compliments the defense on a successful prosecution.
The judge explains that to defend the shooter he had to show that the victim needed to die.
Here, we have to persuade the jury that the victim was the kind of guy who would do grievous harm or murder to the shooter.
So, yeah, his character is relevant.

when I was a young man of 17 I met a much more mature and worldly young lady who at 14 looked 24. was a wild beginning of my sophomore year until she moved. that following summer a few weeks after my 18th birthday back into my life she strolled still 14. myself being 18 never crossed my mind.
Her father threatened me he was going to call the police. this could easily happen to anyone and once in the system with that offense you are truly F##KED.

Exactly the same thing with Steve Baca in the June shooting in Albuquerque. He had been chased by the antifa mob down the street, tackled and knocked down (his "crime" was tangling and knocking down a female "protester" who was blocking his attempt to prevent their tearing down a statute of a Spanish conqueror). The guy shot made the mistake of hitting Baca with the skateboard (or as the Soros prosecutor says "trying to knock the gun out of Baca's hand").
Baca shot four times and hit his attacker in the back (he survived). The local armed "civil militia" were on scene and surrounded Baca (now passively sitting on the ground) to protect him from the oncoming mob. The police, who had been hiding behind a building at the direction of the Dem mayor, arrived and arrested Baca and the civil militia members and confiscated their weapons. The militia members were released without charges but the Soros-elected DA showed off all their legal guns; its not clear whether they got them back. Attorneys came to Baca's defense and got him released on bond after the DA said he was to be kept locked up until trial as a danger to the community.
That’s part of the point. We may laugh at the idea of purple-haired lesbians and college beta-males picking up rifles and putting themselves in harms way in any civil conflict. But that isn’t who the left will rely on for violence. They have access to a broad reservoir of mentally unstable criminals who are accustomed to violence. They may be scum, but they are also brave/ reckless and aggressive enough to charge a guy with a rifle.
That is it in a nutshell. This same crap has been going on for DECADES. Here is a pic of the Seattle WTO riots in 1999 -- TWENTY ONE years ago. What are the odds that 20 year old punks in 1999 are rioting today in Seattle and Portland at age 41? And THEIR kids, too.
It would be a nice country if we could rid ourselves of these misfits once and for all. Why in the world don't they emigrate to a country more to their liking?
