One of the best ways to keep the pandemic going is to use tests with a high false positive rate coupled with mandatory testing. Force 1000 people to take a test and if you get 50 false positives then you have a perpetual lockdown. Apparently some tests have low false positives (nasal swab) and some have higher false positives (antibody).

If you are wondering how much people who live and were raised in a western democracy would be willing to give up their freedoms due to COVID then I think the state of Victoria in Australia is a good example. They have a curfew and a strict lockdown and a very low infection rate. These losers, both people and politicians, may prove to be a wonderful inspiration to Democrat governors here in the USA. And yes, the people are losers because they are generally very accepting of this - there is a small vocal minority but it isn’t big enough to intimidate the tyrants.

I also don’t pay much attention to the numbers. They haven’t been remotely accurate since the early days, if then. The individual you mention seems to be having a lot of fun making the daily report, though, so more power to him.

Yes, they are.
Anecdotal but my doctor told me that the presence of antigens in someone never tested before will be reported to the local health board and will be rolled into the total cases, tracked since March.

Your point about the state governors’ power gave me an idea, C.D.Y.. We have a Primary election coming up in a few weeks here in New Hampshire. I am going to withhold my two votes from Chris Sununu, our ineffective Republican Governor. He has locked us down for way too long. Perhaps if he sees that the down ballot Republicans get thousands of votes, while he receives hundreds less, he will get the message.
I have communicated my displeasure to him before, and will continue to do so. It has become so aggravating that I really don’t know how I’ll vote come November.

Well, that’s not exactly what is happening in Michigan.
Yes, they get added for future epidemiological considerations but the State is using a rolling total report.
Any indication of “positive”, including a positive antigen test, is immediate added to the current active case count because the local health board is instructed to report it as a positive.
They’ll deal with the timing later.
Again, anecdotal because my doctor has given me this “logistic” scheme.

And when physicians and hospitals are rewarded with thousands of dollars for any Covid-related issue (or NON-Covid-related issue if they can get away with it), there’s no WAY the stats will be honest.
