If we still had the “Fairness Doctrine”, never fair, with opposing viewpoints being aired at times when no one was watching, we wouldn’t have Rush Limbaugh, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, or indeed Fox News at all.
There are so many better ways to get news than ‘watching’ it. I think the last time I saw ‘tv news’ was when laid up with a back injury. It happened to be when Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died. Those were the only 2 stories for a week. I can’t imagine it has much improved.

Given how the Fairness Doctrine was used to keep conservative voices off the air - remember that Rush Limbaugh and the talk radio revolution was impossible until the Fairness Doctrine was repealed - I’d be very wary of anything advocating its restoration.
Without the end of the Fairness Doctrine, we never would have had conservative talk radio. You could almost say the modern conservative movement as we know it today has its very genesis in the end of the Fairness Doctrine. That’s why the Democrats were howling to bring it back not so long ago.

Conservatives are starting to have alternatives. Newsmax, America’s Voice, OANN, Blaze, The First. All are available on the free pluto.tv although it’s OAN Encore which is yesterday’s news. Then on fox, we have Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Hannity, Dobbs, Waters, Greg Gutfeld.
The biggest problem is that a lot of people just watch their local news, ABC/NBC/CBS, who somewhat parrot their cable counterparts, albeit in a less dramatic way. It’s still propaganda and they portrait Trump in a very bad light.
