A search of “hair falling out while brushing” returns many articles instructing people to not brush their hair when wet. One site suggested that brushing your hair when it is damp is one of the worst things you could do for its health.

I used to take the DC Metro down to K street to go to work.
For a long time, there was a young woman who would treat the entire train car to the spectacle of her makeup routine, from foundation to the last flick of mascara.
It was like a train-wreck - you didn’t want to watch, but couldn’t take your eyes away. I kept wondering if eventually she would raise her arms, expose her pits, and apply deodorant, for our further benefit.
I kept wondering why, if she didn’t have time to do all of this before she left home, she didn’t get her lazy butt out of bed earlier.
Hormones are very powerful and awful things.
But YIKES when you start to lose them!
When she came out she had washed her hair and I think bathed as best one can.
I admit she did smell good and looked pretty good.
Boyfriend was waiting on her at the airport.
Darn, so that's what I did wrong years ago!
Never saw her on TV... Never heard of Tony Danza... Never saw "Who's the Boss"...
As far as I can tell, she might have been the classic example of an "apple & pie" type of young American girl (like songs used to talk about)...
