What happens if there’s no clear winner?

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE’S NO CLEAR WINNER? There has been a lot of loose talk from both presidential candidates about rigged or stolen elections of late, and many predict a lengthy legal battle over the presidency.

President Trump warned this week that the outcome could be in dispute for “months and months” or “for years.”

But let’s not get ourselves all knotted up in the claims of our hyper hyperbolic president or his rhetorically sloppy challenger, Joe Biden. Instead, let’s run through the realities of an inconclusive presidential election.

I pulled this up because I did not want to post a vanity, but it is a vanity. With the left along with the Chinese and other interest desperately looking for a Trump loss,I was thinking of a possibility they could pull something on election day so here it goes folks. Lets say on election day we have a nationwide power(think EMP) or internet outage or some other catastrophe.People could not get to polls to vote.Would only the mail in votes be counted, would the election be extended? Just a thought y'all but I am not discounting any dirty tricks this year.

I do believe that EVERY NETWORK will “Call it” for Biden long before the West/Mountain Polls close, so I hope Trump has a plan.

It ought to raise red flags that it’s OBVIOUS that the Democrats are trying to make Pelosi the un-elected President.

If it is Michelle Obama as the VP pick, the GOP will be obliterated, something like 1964 or 1974.

Then red states should get Trump and blue states should get Biden.

There will always be a clear winner-when the EC reads and records the votes of the electors from the several states. Popular vote is quite irrelevant, even though most think they are voting for a direct election outcome. The founders were very astute.

I would say the constitution still applies, the electoral college is where thesolution is to be found, if anything, throw out all, ALL, mail in ballots, one must vote in person, with ID.

That’s the way it is here in Alabama. No early voting either.

I dispute your claim. Find one person who voted Trump last time who is switching to dems now....many dems are, ARE switching to Trump as we speak.

With mail in ballots, we SHOULD expect there will be no clear winner on Nov. 3 - or Nov. 4th or Nov 24th, for that matter.

We have all the pieces in place for a massive cluster-frack. Democrats will carpet-bomb their states with mail-in ballots. Ballots will be “arriving” until Christmas. Paid social-justice types will scream “count every vote!” Activist judges will issue injunctions. The corrupt media will fan the flames of discontent. Trump will rage.

I highly doubt the electoral college will be able to certify the election by December 14th

These are all so freaking stupid!

The President and VP are elected by 538 electors, appointed by 50 State Legislatures (and 3 by Congress since 1960).

Whatever happens with the lameass idiots voting process in November, the legislatures will do their duty, the new Congress will count the electoral votes, and a new term for President and VP will begin at noon on January 20, 2021.

If there is no winner in the Electoral College vote, the vote for President goes to the House of Representatives where each state gets one vote. The vote for V.P. goes to the Senate where each Senator gets one vote.

Now, could/would Nancy (if the dems still hold the House) refuse to hold a vote? That is untrodden ground. Right now, dems hold a majority in 23 state delegations, while Republicans have a majority in 25. Two states are tied, and 3 or 4 states could possibly flip eg. 8-9.

Read the US Constitution. It tells you what you asked.

“Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors, equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or person holding an office of trust or profit under the United States, shall be appointed an elector.
The electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves. And they shall make a list of all the persons voted for, and of the number of votes for each; which list they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates, and the votes shall then be counted. The person having the greatest number of votes shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such majority, and have an equal number of votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately choose by ballot one of them for President; and if no person have a majority, then from the five highest on the list the said House shall in like manner choose the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by States, the representation from each state having one vote; A quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. In every case, after the choice of the President, the person having the greatest number of votes of the electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal votes, the Senate shall choose from them by ballot the Vice President.
The Congress may determine the time of choosing the electors, and the day on which they shall give their votes; which day shall be the same throughout the United States.
