Mailing out millions to everyone vs, requesting an absentee ballot.

Mail-in voting is the equivalent of mass-mailed spam.

Absentee is a registered voter requesting an early ballot.

People that often travel for business use them (I have) just to be sure they get to vote.

I don’t think absentee ballots are the same in all states, but they are basically requested by a voter, sent specifically to that voter’s address, and most of the time they are to be signed by that voter. It’s very specific.

By contrast, my understanding that mail in ballots are very generic. They are just a ballot. One person could send in as many as they wanted, as long as they had blank ballots to fill out. What I don’t know is what are the safeguards used to validate these ballots.

If you are a GI overseas, I believe that is being an absentee, as it would apply to a businessman from the USA assigned to a foreign branch office of a US corporation. The other would apply to handicapped people unable to go to a voting booth. That would be my interpretation.

Not to be nihilistic or anything but it was some Commie who said, "It doesn't matter who votes, it only matters who counts the votes."

So, really, it doesn't matter so much whether you vote by mail or in person. I think mail-in only voting just makes it easier for the fraudsters to commit fraud.

Yep. You would be surprised how many unsolicited ballots are addressed to DNC headquarters rather than residences throughout the country. :smirk:

One could point out that elections are governed by the states. That all states have absentee voting laws and regulations. That there’s zero role for the federal government in this. But that would just prove that you’re a racist. Or a cannibal. Or something.

"Mailing out millions to everyone vs, requesting an absentee ballot."

As of today everyone in my household has received 2 mail in ballots each. Are we to assume this means we can vote twice in the upcoming election?🤔

I would get an Absentee Ballot when I would be away on business:
I went to the Registrars office, got my ballot and they crossed my name off of the voter list - then my name gets crossed off the list at the voting booth.
They know I am a registered voter and that I only vote once on one ballot.

"Mail in Voting":
Actual ballots get mass-mailed to every possible voter at every address - not knowing if they are a valid voter, if they even live there, or if they're even alive.
ANYONE can get ahold of that ballot, fill it out and mail it in. ANYONE.

I have voted absentee a few times here in my Minneapolis suburb. I had to fill out and sign a thing and send it in if I recall correctly. They sent me a ballot, I had to sign it and mail it back.

The mail in scam would be just a pile of ballots sent to every mailbox and available everywhere. Massive fraud would be easy.

Push and pull.

With absentee, you “pull”. That is, you proactively ASK FOR a ballot and they send you one and you can’t vote in person.

With mail ballots, it’s “push”. That is, they send one to every voter, even if you may have moved or be dead. And it gets sent back, with no confirmation that it’s you. It is ripe for fraud. You could literally “steal” a bunch of mail ballots, fill them out, send them in, and nobody really knows who voted.

At lest with absentee, the thief has to suspect you are expecting a ballot to even steal it from your mail. The whole vote by mail thing is utterly preposterous.

What is the difference between Voting by Mail and Absentee Voting?

When a citizen, and registered voter wants an Absentee Ballot, they must request it via mail, with a signature.

The Absentee Ballot is then sent to that address, where it was requested with a signature from a registered voter, it is numeric, and is recorded.

It is traceable, contrary to mail in ballots that are sent out to the general population and are not traceable.

Mail in ballots are like the ads you get from the companies that will give you $7,000 a week for life.

How many are sent?

Do you respond?

Are there any safeguards on who signs what?

FRAUD is on display.

If the vote mailer is sent without a request, that is voting by mail. Absentees have to be requested.

By requesting, it is expected that the mailer arrives. If not by request, mailers that get lost or waylaid probably won’t be noticed.

Especially if the state has no significant history of complete vote by mail.

We are going to see tons of districts with voter participation at over 100%. Philadelphia was pretty much at that level (if I recall correctly) in 2016. This time it may well hit 200%.

They also do not seem to verify anything but the postmark on mailed in ballots.

When I was on disability a couple years after a injury they sent me mail to vote from home. I returned to work and they still send it to me and will for the next 20 years.

It’s convenient but with fraud going on I will see if I can change that before the election to vote in person

Had no idea how much fraud there was
