They dont want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They dont want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. Theyre not interested in that. That doesnt help them. That's against their interests.'
'It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.'

Yikes!
A point of clarification, George Carlin got it.
I enjoyed that special.
Strongly disagree. My brothers and I are all living the typical American Dream, close family, comfortable retirement and a house with two cars. We got it all by following the rules and we were raised in a military family where duty, honor and country was the norm.
I never lived CONUS until I was 16, we lived overseas (NATO countries) all my life until then. I enlisted when I was 20 and got to see the other hemisphere.
This is still a great country. People who have never left the spare bedroom in their mother's house have no idea how good it is.
I am just a naturalized American, but living the American dream, however there are many Americans who are not. And I especially empathize with those in metals & manufacturing whose middle class jobs were exported to China by elites in both parties.
This disconnect in perception seems to be generational. Older folks look around and say “I worked hard and achieved the American Dream, so other people can too”.
Younger folks see that there has been wage stagnation in the US for their entire lives, combined with inflation in all sorts of areas, especially housing, and see a whole different picture. The game seems rigged against them before they even get to play.
He didn’t really get it. He was super lefty and became more so and bitter as he got older.
I worked in aerospace for 19 years after leaving the USAF. It all went away in an unbelievably short period with the "peace dividend" group think. The handwriting was on the wall long before the jobs went though.
The people I know that made it adapted and overcame. They went from making cruise missile to GPS trackers and doing bio-medical research. They moved to where the jobs are. In many cases that was half way across the country.
Some went through entire career vocational changes, they took the risk to go back and get educated for new skills rather than wait for someone to tell them what to do.
No many in middle age can adapt so easily. As Trump says again and again, the theft by China from US wealth is the biggest theft of all time. He is right, we built China.
95% in entertainment industry are lefties. No surprise there. However in this video, Carlin comes closer to the truth about the elites controlling the masses and not vice versa.
He is right, we built China.

THANKS! I forgot how hilarious he was... miss his humor.
Ouch, we still getting hosed by almost everybody in the world.
I certainly agree with that. The exportation of US wealth and technology began in the 1990's. We (the American tech industry) were sold out for political gain.
No many in middle age can adapt so easily.
That, I disagree with. My whole argument has been based on successful people transitioning to entirely new vocations out of necessity.
For example, I was trained and employed as an engineer for those 19 years in aerospace. When that vocation went away, I transitioned into being a high school electronics and physics teacher. The skills were already there, the application was adjusted to get the job.
Sure it involved a move and a big pay cut. But, that move enabled a very successful retirement after 25 years of credited service as a teacher too.
Aerospace and defense industry jobs were not exported to China on the same scale as auto manufacturing, Appliance manufacturing, machine tools manufacturing, hand tools manufacturing, household mechanical gadget manufacturing, etc. I spent my career in Chicago associated with all those industries.
I know every street and alley in Chicago having lived in the area for 37 years. I have seen with my own 2 eyes shuttered factories in Chicago, street after street. My last dozen working years were spent in a cushy job working for the department of energy contractors. So personally I escaped the jobs squeeze in manufacturing.
I know personally middle aged working who had spent lifetimes running shop machines. They have no background in electronics or computer programming, such as I had with a masters degree in engineering from Univ of Iowa. I have seen with my own eyes their loss of good middle class paychecks. It was gut wrenching to observe Reagan help China join WTO, the Bushes happy to export jobs to China to benefit stock holders, and Obama in pockets of China. I dread if Biden becomes president, arguably the most corrupt from Chinese money and Ukraine money.
