Police In Both Portland And Seattle Declared Riots Last Night. It Didn’t Help
Hot Air ^ | July 26, 2020 | JAZZ SHAW

You wouldn’t know it from watching CNN this morning, or at least while I had it on my television, but conditions in both Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington actually managed to get worse. Authorities in both cities declared riots and dispatched officers in riot gear with tear gas, flashbangs and non-lethal weapons to attempt to disperse the crowds. In many cases, the mobs were directly attacking police officers rather than simply setting fires and destroying property.

It’s been more than two months. How long do the police in Portland and Seattle have to keep pretending that the “protesters” are mostly peaceful and keep insisting that everyone is on the same side? How much longer do they need to make empty promises about not getting violent with the rioters? As long as the cops keep demonstrating weakness in the eyes of obvious criminals, the rioters will continue to press their advantage. And the mayors and governors in these cities and states are doing little or nothing to restore order. The National Guard should have been in both of those cities in massive numbers weeks ago.

Everyone seems to be terrified that one of these hotbeds of violence will turn into another Kent State fiasco. But the students at Kent State actually were mostly peaceful. The armies of rioters in Seattle and Portland are showing up on a nightly basis prepared for war.

They need to be met by an opposing army capable of taking back the streets. The alternative is to evacuate their law enforcement presence and surrender both cities to the anarchists and let them burn.

Just declaring a riot is not enough. Something with teeth is needed. The police should have also put the rioters on double-secret probation.

Here’s a question: Why do cops carry firearms if they are not permitted to defend themselves?

“...non-lethal weapons...”

Gee, how could they be so cruel? I can just hear professional rioters coming in from all over the US telling each other that there is a danger of falling off a side walk into a gutter because of the non-lethal weapons they are going to face while they carry guns, knives, clubs, and their own mace/pepper spray into the streets with the intent on harming someone and burning private property. I’ll bet they all filled out their wills on that threat.

The local government isn’t even starting to try. And until every call is responded to without some supervisor determining the worth of it, Portland is going to burn to the ground and their idiotic mayor with it. He’s already been gassed once. And Seattle has already shown their turn tail and run attitude with chop. I guess they thought it was coward hypocrites of police. that the reason the patriots won the Revolutionary war. We shot from behind the rocks and trees and actually killed officers, on purpose. Just to protect from invaders that we told to stay out. Simple formula, works every time. Less rioters, less riots.

It doesn’t take a brave person to stand in a line and get hit with trash...or worse. But not doing that is a major reason the patriots won the Revolutionary war. We shot from behind the rocks and trees and actually killed officers, on purpose. Just to protect from invaders that we told to stay out. Simple formula, works every time. Less rioters, less riots. And the police are doing janitorial work at the expense of the taxpayers other than just doing their jobs. And that includes shooting someone that shoots, or knifes, or strikes a citizen with a club, or threatens to. Otherwise, just an arrest would be good, if they remember how.

Follow the money.

There should be a federal investigation of these mayors to see why they are colluding with Antifa.

If any connection can be established, arrest the mayors for RICO.

One or two arrests should send the necessary message to the rest of them.

Yup. “Peaceful riots.” The atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima was just a Roman candle.

It is time for the National Guard to be deployed, jail the mayors and police chiefs, clean up these cities.

We tried that in nearby Louisville KY the week after these protests started. It lasted all of a week. Ditto for the "curfew" that saw protesters marching through the city well into the wee hrs of the morning. Our Dem state gov and Louisville KY mayor are wringing their hands over covid19 while doing little to stop these protests. Louisville's current police chief is there only in the interim as the former one was "asked to step down" (he was set to retire in June but after a shootout between protesters and cops/National Guard which ended in the death of a prominent black businessman, they found that none of the cops had on their body cams and he was fired the next day)

Word has it that the investigation into the Breonna Taylor case is set to wrap up soon. BLM has been screaming for the officers involved to be arrested. Hubs and I have a strong feeling that's not gonna happen and the city is going to burn as a result.

I have been listening to KNX 1070 AM news all morning. This station is all news and is heard all over Southern California from Santa Barbara to San Diego. They keep saying that the “protestors” are being assaulted by Federal officers sent in by Trump. That is the meme pushed by the Fake News. There is no mention of rioters assaulting officers and arsonist setting fires. It makes me want to puke!

I lived in Ohio near Kent State shortly after this happened. There was a huge town/gown divide and the Kent State students, who were mostly from well-off families in Cleveland, despised the “local yokels.” This included those locals in the National Guard.

When information first came out about this, it said that the Guard was responding to gunshots fired from the student side....not the useful idiots in the front, who unfortunately got killed, but from some place behind them where the more radical group was egging everybody on. SDS was very active there. Of course, all this disappeared into the current narrative.

The morons in Portland elected their mayor and the other candidate is even worse. Democracy means people get what they deserve and they get it good and hard.

I have family (wife’s side) that lives in that area and can confirm what you are saying.

Unfortunately, while many of these terrorists have been arrested, the National Lawyers Guild (a long time communist law group), gets them released as fast as they come in to the station. And they are back on the street for the next night’s riot.

Arresting seems not to work. Even a terrorist who attacked a federal officer, hitting him on the head several times with a 4.5lb mini-sledge hammer was released the same night.

Tactics are going to have to be stepped way up now that the terrorists are fully emboldened - even using the National Guard will be difficult, unless they are given ROEs used in most combat zones - ie using live rounds when necessary.

“In many cases, the mobs were directly attacking police officers rather than simply setting fires and destroying property.”

Sounds like a good reason for the police to use deadly force.

I have a friend in Portland that told me exactly that. His inclination is to vote for the new moron, just to spite the old one. He has no good choices, other than to leave.

Demon-rat governors are letting this go on and will not call in national guard. Even though it rattles some of their voting base, their deep state handlers want it to continue and have promised these blue state governors they won’t suffer political consequences because Biden will win. Why?
Because there is going to be MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD perpetrated by the deep state.

The trouble many of them have is that fancy themselves to be real anarchists. They want NO government. Everyone just does what they please. They’ve given zero thought to how that actually plays out, especially as regards efforts to restore law and order in the absence of police.

"inside skinny"

Shortly after 9-11, I got a letter at my shop from my insurance carrier.

The letter noted/reminded me that the shop was not covered by acts of war or terrorism or civil disobedience.

I know, right? These are both liberal cities in reliably Democrat states.

Who are you going to believe, your own eyes, or the reporting of the mainstream media? I saw where the mayor of Portland was jeered and heckled by the rioters. He’s liberal; he’s on their side as far as protesting alleged injustice and all that. Yet he’s not liberal enough for the rioters.

But the mainstream media was silent about the rioters heckling the mayor. The media make it sound as if everything is peaceful, until federal law enforcement show up.

To paraphrase Nancy Pelosi, “storm troopers” have been sent in by Trump. This is the narrative of the media.
