Last of the golden greats RIP.
RIP
Perhaps the last big star of the Golden Age.
Wow, RIP Olivia! What a life!
Oh, my. She was a gracious and beautiful actress. I enjoyed her work from Robin Hood to Gone With the Wind. RIP, Maid Marian.
Olivia de Havilland, one of the last remaining actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age, two-time Oscar winner and star of Gone With the Wind," has died at age 104 https://t.co/menov7Ka6R— Variety (@Variety) July 26, 2020
Lovely woman. RIP Olivia.
Rest in Peace, beautiful, beautiful lady.
Wow. We were all just talking about her a few days ago.
I marveled that at age 104, she was still riding her bicycle.
Her last birth date was July 1st.
I have heard of many elderly or terminally ill patients “willing themselves to stay alive” until some special date has past. Birthday, anniversary, wedding or graduation of a grandchild are some reasons to ‘postpone’ the inevitable.
RIP
A friend of mine who was a Gone with the Wind fan wrote Olivia deHavilland a letter in the late 70s. She received a very gracious response.
I liked her performance in Airport 77, lol.
Its worth noting that this wonderful lady also pitched in during WW II. From Wikipedia:
In December 1943 de Havilland joined a USO tour that traveled throughout the United States and the South Pacific, visiting wounded soldiers in military hospitals. She earned the respect and admiration of the troops for visiting the isolated islands and battlefronts in the Pacific.
She survived flights in damaged aircraft and a bout with viral pneumonia requiring several days’ stay in one of the island barrack hospitals. She later remembered, “I loved doing the tours because it was a way I could serve my country and contribute to the war effort.”
I can't even keep up with them all. Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Eddie Shack the hockey player and that smooth talking guy who did that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire series. And that one guy who was in the movie whose name I can't remember.
The dying never seems to stop.
A class act...from whom all of Hollywood could learn a lot.
I liked her as Libby Custer in They Died with Their Boots On.
She outlived her co-star of many movies Errol Flynn by 60 years.
A truly sad day. RIP Ms. Havilland. Thank you for the memories.
The Last of a True Golden Age.
RIP
I guess the saddest part of her passing was that she never reconciled with her sister.
