Philbin passed away on July 24, his family shared with People.
The statement read: 'We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday.

Oh how I miss the SNL days of this level of talent and good naturedness.
I once had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Philbin. I worked for a Cable TV magazine when I lived in New York. During the interview I asked him what he thought his allure was with middle aged women. I told him that there was a woman in our accounting office who loved him and had his head shots up in her cubicle. We laughed. After the interview, he invited me to come to a taping of the show. He told me to bring this woman along. Of course, she was thrilled. About two weeks later we went to the show. He greeted us at the studio and remembered this woman’s name and gave her flowers. It was such a kind gesture that I am sure she remembered the rest of her life. RIP Regis. A true gentleman.
I pray for him. I fear that being Catholic, it was all about sacraments and rituals and works. Not about total faith in the Finished Work of the Cross of Jesus Christ. He is no longer on the Cross as they have all over their church, and all those idols hanging around and Mary love thinking she is co-with the Christ. Sorry, no. But, hope he was saved as Ephesians 2: 8 and 9 so clearly state. “For it is by GRACE . . . that we are saved . . . not of WORKS. It is a GIFT of GOD!!”

I don’t think I ever heard any politics mention by him. So if anything he was a professional if he was a Democrat. My first exposure to him was as a kid growing up in St. Louis he did a weekly show. The one thing you can say about Regis is he was definitely a hard-working showman.
