It was expected that several players from the Yankees and Nationals would take a knee during or prior to the national anthem on Opening Day. Though, it wasn’t widely expected that every player and coach from both teams would do it.
But, that’s exactly what happened.
The players knelt in protest in front of an empty stadium. MLB has closed their stadiums to fans during their abbreviated season due to the coronavirus.
After the death of George Floyd and the ensuing civil unrest that has swept through the country since late May, MLB has become more vocal on social justice issue. The league’s social media accounts have tweeted dozens of Black Lives Matter messages. In addition, MLB has stenciled Black Lives Matter on the pitchers mounds in all ballparks during their opening weekend.

George was a great owner. A traditionalist. They have the best uniform and I love its in the contract clean shaven and short hair. He would have had no kneeling in the contract. Steinbrenner was a good friend of Trump.
I don’t think we should acknowledge this as any kind of ‘big deal’ that needs to be opposed. I would just not watch sports now, without even getting into a debate about these kinds of things. It’s not necessary. Let them figure it out when the viewership declines significantly.
No problem, would rather watch grass grow than sit for bazeball or football these days.
If I were a multi million dollar player before I would kneel to this obscenity to political correctness that has no logic I would go back to being a tugboat deckhand, oilfield roughneck, oilfield technician, geologist, pilot and pharmacist and I was all the above. It would be far more honorable.
The Constitutions is worth dying for. I did all those occupations listed.

My father hated the Yankees. His favorite team was the Baltimore Orioles because we lived in Rochester, NY, and the Rochester Red Wings were the Orioles farm team. He’s been dead for 42 years. I can’t imagine what he’d say about all of this today. He loved this country. Came here as a little boy from Holland in 1912.

If everyone kneels it's not a protest, it's theater.
They don’t want Patriots to watch their painfully boring game.
Me too. He’s caught between a rock and a hard place. He promised his friend he would do so but, the actions of the team put the President in a difficult position.
Whatever he does, there’s no way it will change this families vote in November.
