Prayer thread for my daughter
7/1/2019 | vanity

Posted on 07/19/2020 3:40:29 PM PDT by fhayek

We get prayer threads on this site from time to time, and the people here are so gracious about it. I now am asking for prayers for my daughter.

Now, she isn't sick or in danger, but I swear she could use some divine intervention. Her problem? She made the audacious decision to get married in the year 2020. Here's the rundown:

The Catholic Church has limited the number of people who can be at the ceremony to 50. That is less than half the number of people who would want to come.

The place where her reception was scheduled...burned to the ground about a month ago.

She got a replacement hall, but at first they told us that we could only have 50 people, then they cancelled altogether thanks to the edicts of Andrew Cuomo.

She had planned a honeymoon in Hawaii, but because of the travel restriction (and subsequent quarantine), she had to cancel it.

She is now going to set up a tent in her yard and hope that the neighbors don't blow her in (I am sure there is some violation or other).

She is holding up okay, but I can see that the stress is getting to her. We have issues of people coming from out of town (subject to the quarantine) and I am praying that it doesn't rain. August 15. I could use a hand here. She is such a good kid, and she deserves better. Thanks in advance.

The problem is that so many weddings scheduled for 2020 have had to be pushed into 2021 that there aren’t many good dates left in 2021 either. My stepdaughter just got engaged and a fall wedding is just about impossible as of now.

Just pray for a nice break in the weather for fhayek’s daughter. You sometimes get a nice week or two in August.

My friends were supposed to get married June 13, but due to COVID they decided to get married in April (as in two months EARLIER) instead. They had a few guests and had the ceremony streamed from the church so we could watch it on youtube. They had a very small party afterward. A reception type party might happen this summer, but at least when COVID rules are not so strict.

Waiting a year, when one is already anticipating the wedding, is not a good idea.

Thanks. I know that in the grand scheme of things, this is really nothing but an inconvenience. But I love my daughter, she is a great human being, and, after everything that has been going one, I hope that Becky has the kind of day little girls always dream about for their wedding day. I don’t want to take away from some kid with a tough disease, or someone in deep despair. I just hope that she catches a small break on her big day. Thanks for everyone’s kind words. It has been a great help.

When/if I get married you won’t catch me spending one dime unnecessarily, and I have plenty of dimes.
License fee and very little else.
However, if you like to party, tie the knot now and party later if priorities have not changed in twelve months. (If they have changed, think how much money will have been saved for the 2021 priorities.)

DITTO on that.

God has sent Y’All MANY MESSAGES but Y’All are not LISTENING TO HIM !!! Don’t make God have to resort to Skywriting and/or Lightning Bolts to get the messages understood or give a backhand to Y’All...

It might not be exactly as desired, but God is good.

Mary mother of us all ask your Divine son Jesus to fix all of this as you did at the wedding in Cana. Amen

Texas and Florida are not disasters because they would not lock down. As the corruption of the media and medical communities, yes I said medical communities, come to light the truth of the situation comes to light. Remember, it was a member of the medical community that attacked Ron Paul and the miserable media community that tried to cover it up. Unfortunately, a lot of the COVID fraud that is being perpetuated on the people of the US will never be prosecuted.

Dear Fhayek,

I am praying for a great day for your daughter.

As a wife of 26 years, I can attest that while the wedding day may seem important, it pales when compared to the days that come after.

Six months before my wedding, my father was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma. We didn’t know if he would live long enough to walk me down the aisle.

My nephew was born with an underdeveloped cerebellum and we feared daily he would die.

The dress maker screwed up my dress so that it had to be redone.

The printer screwed up my invitations so we had to do a second mailing and my mom fielded calls for days from confused relatives.

My car died, so we restructured our honeymoon to use some of the money as a downpayment for my car. A month later, we canceled the honeymoon entirely to use the rest of the money on as a downpayment for my husband’s new car.

The hairdresser fried my hair, so instead of soft waves, I looked like I had been hit by a bolt of lightning.

I got food poisoning and was so sick I missed the rehearsal dinner and my bachelorette party.

My town held a parade down mainstreet, so at the last minute I had to reroute my limo, flowers, and photographer.

When we arrived at the church, my guests were milling around outside because there was a funeral going on and my groom, in the waiting room, thought I stood him up at the altar because no one told him why the ceremony was delayed!

In the end...

My father lived for another 20 years
My nephew lived for another month
All the guests made it
My dress looked lovely, even if it was not perfect
My sister in law saved my hair so that I didn’t look like roadkill in our pictures.
We had a great time on our super cheap weekend honeymoon.

And last, but certainly not least, I got to spend the last 26 years with the most amazing man in the world by my side and we spent 2 glorious weeks in Italy for our wedding anniversary.

It doesn’t matter if things are perfect; what matters is who is sharing those vows and what you will do with that bond after.

Let these tests make them stronger.

Praying for a lifetime of health, wealth, and happiness.

Give it up! We’ve already been thru this with my son. Unless they want to wait until “normal” returns, they should get married with as many as can attend.

When my son expressed concerns, I reminded him that my mom was a “WWII BRIDE” with 3 weeks to plan a wedding. Your daughter might be a”corona virus bride”.. it wont be the wedding of her dreams (or yours), but they will begin their life together.

Wedding day is one day at the beginning of their marriage. I will pray for them AND you.

By the way.. I wasn’t able to attend my son’s wedding in Henderson NV... and the zoom connection was miscommunicated.
Wasn’t happy, but they are back in TX as man n wife.

Off the soapbox. Wish you all well.

My daughter is in the same boat. She had a Zoom wedding at a beautiful location. She wore her dress. it was just the officiant and she and her now husband. She had planned for a big 200-300 person wedding July 25 but that went by the wayside with corona. The wedding was beautiful We all watched on Zoom.

We had the wedding on Saturday in my daughter's back yard. Wouldn't you know it? It rained. Check that, it was a monsoon.

But, it went on. Family and friends. Everyone said how wonderful it was. Thank you for all your prayers. I learned something the other night. You want perfect. God gives you something even better.
