Prayer thread for my daughter
7/1/2019 | vanity

Posted on 07/19/2020 3:40:29 PM PDT by fhayek

We get prayer threads on this site from time to time, and the people here are so gracious about it. I now am asking for prayers for my daughter.

Now, she isn't sick or in danger, but I swear she could use some divine intervention. Her problem? She made the audacious decision to get married in the year 2020. Here's the rundown:

The Catholic Church has limited the number of people who can be at the ceremony to 50. That is less than half the number of people who would want to come.

The place where her reception was scheduled...burned to the ground about a month ago.

She got a replacement hall, but at first they told us that we could only have 50 people, then they cancelled altogether thanks to the edicts of Andrew Cuomo.

She had planned a honeymoon in Hawaii, but because of the travel restriction (and subsequent quarantine), she had to cancel it.

She is now going to set up a tent in her yard and hope that the neighbors don't blow her in (I am sure there is some violation or other).

She is holding up okay, but I can see that the stress is getting to her. We have issues of people coming from out of town (subject to the quarantine) and I am praying that it doesn't rain. August 15. I could use a hand here. She is such a good kid, and she deserves better. Thanks in advance.

The important part of all this is getting married and then staying married.

You can have splash out on a party later. You can take a trip later.

I’ve been married a pretty long time(38 years) and I cringe when I hear people say, “This will be the best day of life!” It better not be.

Your kids being born, your husband being saved by surgeons, surviving a home fire or a flood, getting the all clear after cancer - those are pretty good days and they don’t happen every week.

You can always save up for a party. You can’t always find your beloved spouse.

Don't worry, god is already smiling upon her. The young lady sounds like a trooper, may her and her beloved as well as your family be blessed. Not one thing can keep love down, it has proven to be the winner against all evils this old world has thrown at it. We should remember in times of great stress by living through the moments of these young hearts entangled that love of country and thy kindred, will not be quenched by any fear or for any conflict. It may be hard times but the love that can weather the storm is stronger for it or so I've been told.

Prayers that the Lord relieves her stress and calms her with His Spirit.
Just look to the Lord, and trust in Him. All these other things are mere passing nuisances.

And congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding! May she and her husband be greatly blessed.

Thirty years for me too in February. About a week after the Bills lost the Super Bowl on Scott Norwood's missed field goal. (okay, the pain never dies...)

The thing I have learned. The most important thing I learned, was that life doesn't go according to what you plan. But you know what? The way it works out is BETTER than what you plan. I know that now, and God works his mysterious ways, and it takes the wisdom of years to understand it. Thanks for all your thoughts.

“... life doesn’t go according to what you plan”.

So very, VERY true! This is probably the first “not as you hoped for or planned” event for the young couple and it probably won’t be the last. It sounds like they are already rolling with the punches together and looking toward the future. May their marriage be beautiful!

They can always go to a Judge for the legal ceremony. Then, have a formal ceremony later. That way they can also celebrate their anniversary twice each year.

Yes. All the old folks back from the day would faint.
My wife & I went to the Judge first & then had the formal wedding & reception at a more convenient time. 2 anniversaries each year. They total 68 right now.

My niece is in the same boat. She is getting married next month. The catholic church put so many obstacles in place that she redid the whole thing. The priest wouldn’t even let her Dad walk her down the aisle.

So...they will get married at the church with only the immediate family present.

The next day they will have a pretend marriage outdoors. That way as any people can come as they want. It will be outside so people can spread out if they want to.

Prayers up. Jesus loves weddings. The first miracle He performed was at a wedding.

She can have a no frills wedding, reception and honeymoon now but plan for a full on wedding with all on their first anniversary.

Our Pastor reminded us today “if there is no test, you have no testimony”

I pray your daughter and her fiancé are super committed, have a wonderful unique wedding day and many many decades of love and life together. They will have many stories to tell over their life together of all the effort they went through to have this ceremony and reception.

Many I know had to cancel the reception and just settle for wedding with m inimal people with hopes to have reception next year.

God bless your daughter for persevering in the midst of so many obsticles etc.

The Catholic Church has limited the number of people who can be at the ceremony to 50.

Tucson CC only 10 people. That just covers the B&G 4 parents 2 witnesses a priest & altar server .

No music,no soloist

The answer...Live in Sin.

I’ll pass. In my mind inconveniences do not require prayer.
Bad form.

Multi-location and live stream.

She could also consider moving to the free zone.
