You bet, a nice sing along sing song will bring everyone together.
He ought to join them full time as Canada Heat.
When he goes we will have lost a treasure. There will never be another Captain James T. Kirk.
More like Canned Ham! Terrible even by Shatner standards! Phone it in Bill! Guess he needs the cash from his divorce to buy a fridge to store his horse semen!
The definitive Shatner song is “Mr Tambourine Man.”
Cut The Shat a fat enough check, and he’ll make anything sound like Shakespeare. Or a mockery. Or Biblical scripture. I never found Canned Heat to be of my taste, anyway. The look, the sound, the image, all gave off the vibe of ‘tree-hugging smelly hippie’. And I despise the whole earth-mama-commie-hippie dogma and lifestyle.
The bass player got busted not too long ago selling drugs out of a thrift store.
Saw him about 4 years ago in a steakhouse in Vegas. My gosh, his gut was YUGE! Probably hasn’t seen Little Captain Kirk in a long, long time. But probably one of my best celebrity sightings. As he left, he walked right by our table.
I always felt that was his trademark, that you didn’t really know either way. My impression of him, from various things I’ve seen, read, and an episode of the show American Pickers, was that he’s a genuinely nice guy who is respectful of his fellow man.
Even absent Shatner, this in not nearly as good of a cut musically or tonally as the original.
Kenny Edwards was the best bass player Canned Heat ever had. One would be surprised to learn of the major hits on which he was the bassist.
“In 1969, songwriter and recording artist Wilbert Harrison released “Let’s Work Together” amidst unprecedented social strife and racial tensions in America. The song was a clarion call to “every boy, girl, woman and man” to join the burgeoning social movements that promoted peace, justice and equality and a declaration that “Together we will stand, divided we’ll fall.”
I can’t help but think ageing hippies must realize they accomplished nothing at all; if anything, they made things worse by attacking a culture which while imperfect, was the best system around.
Where is Mrs. Miller when you need her?
